Did You Learn Nothing From Chernobyl?

Miami "fans" burned the Canes football program to the ground during their mission to oust and destroy Al Golden, and to this day recruiting is still suffering mightily (obviously Shapiro wasn't helpful, although at the time the Herd ruled that Golden would not be permitted to use the Shapiro debacle as an excuse).

Tennessee fans went down this thorn-strewn path when they collectively decided they wanted Phil Fulmer executed in 2008. Those fans also burned their once proud football operation to the ground during their tirade, and 10-years later the program still hasn't recovered.

How can people believe that when over a two-year period they publicly, on a minute to minute basis, 7 days a week, disembowel a football program that when their mission is complete, all will be forgotten/forgiven? Like Chernobyl, you're left with the radioactivity to try and clean-up for years afterward, and while highly doubtful, even if successful, you will never be what you once were.

Now there's a renegade UM Trustee, who bravely asked his identity be protected, then leaked information to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson, while freely admitting he was breaking a trust by doing so. Certainly makes the title "Trustee" ironic. Even more ironic, Jackson referred to him as a "prominent Trustee." Barry! Not so much! He not so cleverly introduced Al Golden's name into his poorly executed deepthroat impression as a negative parallel hoping to further stir the destroy Richt pot. While this unethical and disloyal bottom feeder's act makes the Herd overjoyed, it reflects very poorly on the University's trustworthiness (yes, despite some taking great offense to this fact, it is still an institution of higher learning). He also issued comments that could very well undermine James Blake's authority and chided UM's President, Julio Frenk. A real peach of a person. I'm sorry, a real "prominent" person.

Now to make the Herd's day. Coach Richt could resign as he is a man of the highest character and may no longer want to subject himself and his family to this ever-growing cesspool. Your celebration will be short lived once you become familiar with the names of those that would even consider replacing Richt. Even Google will scratch its head trying to figure out who in the **** those people are.

I guarantee you this is setting up to end very, very badly relating to the future of UM football.

PS; Nice touch by those who are attacking Coach Richt for his religious beliefs. Even during the Golden and Fulmer massacres no one stooped that low.

Up voted for the veracity of your argument. That said, you're mostly wrong IMO.

I too was saddened to see a banner flying yesterday. IMO it was posters who wanted to make themselves part of the story, due in large part to the fact that under Golden, posters were 100% correct in flying those banners. Donna was financially raping the football program and seemed to be intentionally trying to keep UM football down. Blake James was either incompetent or completely under Donna's thumb (my guess is the latter). Moreover, the religious angle was as poor of form as it gets.

You kind of show your *** when you talked about the unnamed board of trustee member(s). I know this because I was fortunate enough to know that multiple trustees went to and had a very direct conversation with Blake James a week before that article posted. My guess is that the Herald writer betrayed a confidence in printing that story. You'll notice I didn't post anything here because the info was given to me in confidence.

You bring up an interesting point about going from positive to completely negative in a one year span. IMO that is where the real debate resides. Even though we had a ten win season and beat the big 3 (FSU, VT, ND) we looked horrible on offense in several games. Many of the knowledge football posters here were still calling for Mark Richt to hire a play caller, so its not like this issue just came up in 2018. We'd been seeing it since Richt arrived. That combined with the lack of QB development while a nepotism hire is in that role is what's fanning the flames of resentment. Jon Richt's resume is a joke and the results have been poor. What other conclusion can be drawn?

For me, the fact that Blake James gives out big money extensions based on one year of success is a big factor in all of this. Its time for Blake James to justify his actions, if not to us here in the marketplace, at a minimum to those on the board of trustees who desire an elite UM football program.

Wouldn't that be a question for Barry??

I am asking, are you implying that he betrayed the confidence of those two trustees? If so, you think they talked to the Herald and asked for anonymity because they didn't think their opinions would be printed?

It’s always the fans fault right? We expect double digit wins especially with the talent Miami brings in every year. Not 7-5 and 8-4 seasons.

The thing I learned from Chernobyl is that a nuclear power plant needs to be run competently -- kind of like a football team.

I've also learned that there are unfortunate idiots in the world who will try to blame the reaction to incompetence rather than the incompetence itself.

I said it was my GUESS that he betrayed a confidence. But Who knows? Maybe they wanted him to print what he did. Either way, the point I was driving home was that OP is just "showing his ***" by crying like a ***** over what I can assure is REAL INFORMATION.
