With Joe Yearby averaging 5.2 YPC (his current career average), by the end of the year, he will crack Top 10 in the all time rushing(yardage) list for Miami after 90 carries. He had 86 attempts as a freshman and 205 as a sophomore, totaling 1,511 yards on 291 carries. With 465 more yards, he will total 1,976 yards which will be enough to beat out #10 on the list.

The current career rushing yardage leader list is as follows (through my research of outdated articles):

1 Duke Johnson 3519
2 Ottis Anderson 3331
3 Edgerrin James 2960
4 James Jackson 2950
5 Clinton Portis 2523
6 Graig Cooper 2374
7 Danyell Ferguson 2214
8 Javarris James 2162
9 Willis McGahee 2067
10 Frank Gore 1975

Joe Yearby will surpass Hurricane Great Frank Gore for the #10 spot on this list by the end of this year.

For those wondering, it will take a phenomenal year from Mark Walton. He currently holds 461 yards after his freshman season, and would need 1,514 yards to tie Frank Gore.

The last 4 largest rushing yardage in a year for the top 2 backs under Mark Richt (UGA) is:

2015:
Sony Michel (1146)
Nick Chubb (747)

2014:
Nick Chubb (1547)
Todd Gurley (911)

2013:
Todd Gurley (989)
J,J. Green (384)

2012:
Todd Gurley (1385)
Keith Marshall (759)

Bold is where the starting, or secondary RB earned enough yardage for Walton/Yearby to surpass Frank Gore. Assuming Walton as the starter and Yearby as the secondary.

The 4 Year Average for 2 headed RB attacks under Coach Richt, using the numbers above.
1266 and 700.

Go Canes.

Gus Edwards averages 5.4 YPC for a total of 687 yards over 2 years. He had 61 and 66 carries his first 2 years as Duke's Backup. If Edwards was to remain consistent with his 5.4 YPC, he would need 1,289 yards this year to break the top 10. This would also require him to have 239 carries, or 19 carries a game (to include the bowl game.

3rd best carries per game (not counting QB) under Mark Richt for last 4 years is:
2012: 57
2013: 68 (a 4th RB had 56, Keith Marshall)
2014: 64
2015: 68

If Gus remains the 3rd back, he will probably continue his average of about 64 carries a year, and add another 345 yards to his total. This
would have him at

Some Canes that unexpectingly(maybe) has over 687 yards in 2 years of play:
QB Kelly Cochrane 1970-1971 1546yds on 400 attempts (He's listed as a QB on the website lol)
QB Ed Carney 1972-1973 1544yds on 368 attempts
Duke Johnson had 957 yards in his freshman year alone.

#156 on the list is Kevin Beard (17 yards) who is ranked ahead of Reggie Wayne (15), Andre Johnson (15), and Phillip Dorsett (8). All are behind Kicker Mike Burke, who has 74 rushing yards.

Walton has been getting the love lately but I think Yearby still has a great year. I think richt should play it by ear and go with the hot hand while rotating the rbs

I see a three headed monster. For all the flak Gus gets around here for running high, which I thought he improved on between his freshman and sophomore years, he's the last guy I'd want to try to tackle late in the game with fresh legs.

I think this has really been overlooked a bit. Gus could prove to be huge late in close games

Yardage totals generally tell me they weren't good enough to leave early...would love to see yards per game

if Yearby got his weight under control and increased his flexibility he could be really good.

Yearby is a very good back. I think some here don't appreciate him because he's not Cook.
