With Joe Yearby averaging 5.2 YPC (his current career average), by the end of the year, he will crack Top 10 in the all time rushing(yardage) list for Miami after 90 carries. He had 86 attempts as a freshman and 205 as a sophomore, totaling 1,511 yards on 291 carries. With 465 more yards, he will total 1,976 yards which will be enough to beat out #10 on the list.
The current career rushing yardage leader list is as follows (through my research of outdated articles):
1 Duke Johnson 3519
2 Ottis Anderson 3331
3 Edgerrin James 2960
4 James Jackson 2950
5 Clinton Portis 2523
6 Graig Cooper 2374
7 Danyell Ferguson 2214
8 Javarris James 2162
9 Willis McGahee 2067
10 Frank Gore 1975
Joe Yearby will surpass Hurricane Great Frank Gore for the #10 spot on this list by the end of this year.
For those wondering, it will take a phenomenal year from Mark Walton. He currently holds 461 yards after his freshman season, and would need 1,514 yards to tie Frank Gore.
The last 4 largest rushing yardage in a year for the top 2 backs under Mark Richt (UGA) is:
2015:
Sony Michel (1146)
Nick Chubb (747)
2014:
Nick Chubb (1547)
Todd Gurley (911)
2013:
Todd Gurley (989)
J,J. Green (384)
2012:
Todd Gurley (1385)
Keith Marshall (759)
Bold is where the starting, or secondary RB earned enough yardage for Walton/Yearby to surpass Frank Gore. Assuming Walton as the starter and Yearby as the secondary.
The 4 Year Average for 2 headed RB attacks under Coach Richt, using the numbers above.
1266 and 700.
Go Canes.
