Did COVID-19 Give Diaz A Pass?

Name for me how many non-interim coaches have been fired after one year in college football? It’s not about will, it’s more a logical progression. The consensus had to be give him and Blake one more year. If it was up to me it would’ve been different, but you have to have consensus among a small handful and I’m sure there were one or two holdouts. That won’t be the problem at the end of this season

OC3, if have my full support for a BoT slot.

I believe, unfortunately, the COVID-19 issue will provide an even longer leash for Diaz.

Scenarios for his 2020 dismissal are lessening.

What say you?

Probably, but to be honest, with our pathetic schedule next year...a still warm corpse would be hard pressed to win less than 8 games. Our BOT and AD are so pathetic, 8 wins would have them talking about how Manny is improving anyway.

Please do not take this to mean I endorse Diaz or think he'll turn it great.

If he had anyone not named Dan Enos as OC, we'd have won at least 3 more games. People would be content and we'd be stuck in the 9-11 win rut where Mark Richt had Georgia for 10 years. By having Enos stink up the place from day one, the pressure is on Manny to produce in season two instead of perpetually being a couple of bad bounces away from the CFP. He's already on his last chance, and Blake James knows his fate probably relies on Manny's success.

I'm on board with that sentiment.👆

Unfortunately you or I don't get to write Diaz's end of season report on if he stays.

Again, if this COVID event spills into Fall, my concern is growing he survives to 2021 with less than 10 wins.
I still don't see how Covid affects him staying or going. If we play, he should get held to the same standard he would have if there wasn't a virus.

If Diaz stinks it up this year, I could certainly see him and Blake using the Covid crisis as an excuse. Minimum 10 wins and competitive in the ACCCG is a reasonable expectation.

How many first year HCs, in today's every increasing "win this instant" environment, lost to essentially several high school squads and one team that had just installed the forward pass as a routine concept?

Weren't the 2019 Canes supposed to be in "we got better mode" rather than "we are rebuilding"?

I agree Miami was in a difficult position with firing Diaz after 2019's disaster. Regardless, no matter how high that bar was, the will wasn't there. Also, probably no small amount of second guessing and "what have we done" hand wringing at senior levels.

In Lashlee we trust, until we don't.

I have a hard time understanding your point when you go into stream-of-consciousness fire-at-will rapid fire posting. Take a breath.

Please explain how the virus will lengthen his leash. The only way that happens is if we don't play. He'll be assured another year that way. Otherwise, if we play, and we don't win a whole lot, he's gone.
Here is your answer, The athletic dept is taking a huge hit financially, they aint eating his contract. Very few schools will be doing to do that for the forseeable future

I don't think it does.

The playing field will be level this year. Everyone is going to be on a rushed schedule.

Why would it?
Every team is going through the same thing.
So fvck no. Acc championship game or fired.
LMAO. Are you a decision maker for the University or some anonymous poster on a message board? I'm going with the latter

Before I answer this, can someone post how Florida is looking currently with this Covid outbreak? It will help me determine the OP's question. TIA

If they stoop so low in blaming the Virus on a 7 Win Season (while every team in America has faced the same dilemma) they should be booted out onto Ponce.....
