Diaz panic

Gru Ferman, the penguin said there was a 10% chance he'd leave Miami for the Temple HC job.

I think the cause of a lot of people’s panic is the timing of this. A week from ESD. If this happened after the bowl game I think there’s a lot less hysteria, so to speak.

I agree. Bash Richt all you want but he's batting .1000 on his last few DC hires.

Jeremy Pruitt may be an a-hole, but Georgia's defenses were very good in 2014 and 2015. Diaz was very good. Not a fan of the 3-4 but what was wrong with Todd Grantham? The problem isn't Mark's defenses.

Was a fan of Manny especially after that so called “coach” that ran Miami’s d before him. Loved the aggressive style but he blitzed way too much especially with the DB’s and Miami got burned for it. I knew he’d pick up a head coaching job but I wanted him to stay another year or two so he’d leave after a good year and not this ****show of a year.

Not as upset about Diaz leaving as I am with the timing of everything. Couldn’t come at a worse time for recruiting. Richt will drag this hire out for months. Dude let Jesus take the wheel and has been mentally checked out since the midway point of the season. Now he’s responsible for trying to figure out how to light a fire in our sputtering offense and hire a whole new crew of coaches on defense? This blows. No other way to slice it.

You won’t have to force Banda to go. He follows Diaz everywhere like a sombrero shadow.
Yep. Just hire a DC that can help Rumph with Safeties, and you can hire an OC also. Alex Grinch & Kendal Briles, come on down, we f*ckin then.

I dont get the obsession with Manny i really dont get it

I am a big Manny fan. I think he fit in perfectly here but agreed, his track record is a little inconsistent.

This reminds me of a lot of our players. They start to break out and then they jump to the NFL before we really get to see them at their best.

It is what it is. I will miss Manny but if people are falling apart it's more because of the "death by a million cuts" we've been experiencing.

@mackjones curious to hear your thoughts. I thought this was pretty well said. Not trying to give myself a pat on the back here.

LOL at the panic and the characterization of him jumping at the first thing offered.

Diaz just got an incredible opportunity, and he got it by coming here. No one was looking for him to be their HC before he got here. He was seen as a journeyman DC with spotty success.

Comes here and does what every dc not named Doritos has done here (4-3 downhill defense), and now he’s a HC 3 years later. That’s a **** good selling point to ANY hungry DC. Miami makes DCs not the other way around.

On top of all that, we with all of his glaringly obvious faults, pretty sure Sleepy’s last 3 DC hires were Grantham, Pruitt, and Diaz.

Take a look at a guy like Tracy Claeys or some guy like him who has had excellent results at lower tier programs. We’re not going to poach Venables or Aranda, but we don’t have to. Any good DC can kill it at UM. Even some mediocre ones have done well here and never matched the success they had here anywhere else.

If we were coming off a 12-0/11-1 season I would agree. We went 7-5 and that’s because of the D or we would have went 4-8! We miss on a DC and things will get worse then they are especially since we aren’t hiring an OC.

I’d guess he would.

Let Rumph be the DB coach, and now you have 2 new spots available. Make this a positive.

Agreed. Use the extra spot to hopefully hire an OC or even a ST coach. LB coach should be easy to fill.
