Diaz on the Joe Rose Radio Show 9-20-21

The first reaction is to scream. The second is to feel sorry for Manny. He's so far over his head and is clueless for answers.

So, the horrific tackling issue - worst in the nation - goes back to angles and setting the edge? No ****, genius. It's plagued Manny's defense for years. Manny is the defensive coordinator, right? Shouldn't it have been addressed eons ago? Shouldn't it have been raised and adjusted at halftime?

And we learn that the tackling issue is further compounded by players stopping their feet upon contact. Is this guy a **** comedian or a Pop Warner coach?

Finally, we're turning up the heat in practice this week. Great, we're gonna put a whooping on a dreadful Central Connecticut program, which would likely struggle against IMG.
Feel sorry for him? He is getting paid $3m+ to do this job. I do not resent him for taking it, but he knew what he was signing up for in doing so.

Díaz says the right things all the time but it never feels real or authentic. Everything with him feels calculated. From his media interviews, to the yachts, speeches about “play for Miami or get beat by Miami speeches”, to the chains, everything is calculated. He has very little substance. I’m over it.
Almost like a politician.... I wonder if Manny knows any?

Manny will be a G5 head coach because some school will be desperate for someone with experience who can "recruit So Fla"

Temple may want him back which would be hilarious bc they'd basically have him for free (maybe even get paid to have him technically)
ECU, FIU, N Texas, Colorado St, Ga Southern, Ga State. Even Duke is an option both as HC or DC.

DC-wise I could see him at FSU. Norvell needs all the help he can get.
La Tech could take him back. S. Carolina, Arizona, Wake Forest, Louisville, Ole Miss, UCF needs help desperately.
Before the Miami job, probably.
Post Miami, don't see it.
FSU? That would be a hoot..

There isn't anymore deflecting blame to the offense. He is coaching now to be a DC somewhere else, and it's not looking for him there either.

All we heard all off season was tackling and run fits was the focus for the defense. That's why Manny fired Baker and took over play calling on defense. Well, if anything we might be worse at tackling. Manny explaining tackling 101 like this is high school football lol. There is no fix from Manny at this point. He's lost the team and no one wants to play for him.
Way to late for him to fix this. We’re talking about learning fundamentals, which he’s either neglected or can’t teach. He’s not fixed that in 2 weeks.

I can’t see him being anything more than an analyst somewhere for at least a couple years. No way somebody gives him a DC spot after this year. And Imagine hiring him as a LBer coach after whats he’s done with that position here. He can’t blame anybody else anymore. Baker got canned and it got worse lmao.

I'm finding it harder to hate the HC than in previous years. Yeah he needs to go but what is he supposed to do, resign? He's making millions.

James and admin on the other hang can all burn in ****

Its because its comical at this point. Its not a surprise anymore when dumb **** happens.

I'm starting to wonder if:
1- They tackle in the off-season
2- They work tracking/pursuit in the off-season
3- If they recruit guys who can track/pursue/tackle or just guys who make some big illegal hits on film
4- If they know how to teach track/pursue/tackle
5- If they do any clinic work with HS coaches where they discuss tackling/tracking/pursuit so the recruits do the right chit

They tackle tires in practice.

We berated Golden for 2 gapping. But every defense needs gap control, the reason why our players on d always look out of place is they are not being thought anything about contain or setting the edge. We have a free side of the field and the End is stunting inside of the tackle, someone has to make it make sense. And to how often we do it, thats not players free lancing, thats being coached into their play. Which is then whats making the players frustrated as well. There is nothing sound and fundamental about what we are teaching the players, and its showing up at the most technical positions, the OL and the front 7.
