Oh my.
Really?
Really?
His year 3 defense at Miami was statistically better in almost every metric than his year 2 defense.Lots of games left to be played this year, but history shows, and I've said it the second he got hired at PSU and after last season....Year 2 of Diaz has always been great at all his stops. The question will be, how will they play in year 3 and 4?
University of Lisp...Hey...
Where did Manny Diaz go to college?
We knew and they knew we knew what they were running and they did it anywayGiving up almost 600 yards on the ground and having 2 backs run for almost 300 yards a piece will do that.
That was the worst defensive performance I’ve seen from a Canes team in my lifetime and maybe in any college game I have seen.
lets see him when its his recruits. he always does good a year or two then it falls apart.manny is an excellent DC. the best one we've had in a LONG time
it crumbled when he was a HC because he didn't have control over the locker room, he couldn't recruit, and he couldn't get the team "up" for games
So a guy, as an HC, couldn't sniff the CFP, is Mac's personal whipping boy, and who, as a DC, can't stop the big boys...Is trying to troll a HC who took his lumps but figured out how to win Conference Championships and get in the CFP, unlike him...
What a pathetic excuse for a man, hope Michigan hangs 55 on "his defense."
Who cares? Every DC gets lit up from time to time. I was one of the people that wanted Diaz to be run out of here on a rail because he was a dismal HC.You do know Michigan set the school rushing yards record against Penn St last year. Also Ohio st Penn st was 16-14 going into the 4th quarter. Ohio st scored 28 points ending up with 44 points.

That being said he has been a very good DC for the better part of the last 7 years. His scheme has its bugs but most do. Aside from his defenses penchant for giving up a record setting rushing performance about once every 3-4 years, Manny Diaz has been one of the top DCs in college football by the numbers. James Franklin didn't hire Diaz because he felt sorry for him.
The problem Diaz had at Miami as it relates to his defense especially in 2021 was that as good as Diaz can be as a DC, he is abysmal as a recruiter especially when it comes to evaluating talent. At PSU Franklin is the Alpha dog so Franklin decides who they target and ultimately bring in.
Is Diaz a Brett Venables level DC? Heck no but very few would be considered as such. I think Lance Guidry is a better DC than Diaz and frankly there are quite a few more I would take over Diaz. However the narrative that Diaz is mediocre or bad as a DC is demonstrably false. I would consider Diaz a top 10 DC in college right now. Exactly where in that top ten is up for debate but he belongs there.
That's nice.TrumpyCane didn’t even bother to read the rest after the first two sentences
Can you name a decent defensive coordinator who’s given up a record amount of rushing yards at three different programs?
