“ After UM’s 44-28 victory against Virginia on Saturday, Cavaliers receiver Joe Reed said this, via the Associated Press, about Miami’s defense: “They are very beatable. The chain is what gives them the spark. I think without the chain they’d be a whole different defense.”

It does back up a little bit what I sort of suspected a week ago,” defensive coordinator Manny Diaz said Tuesday when asked about the comment by WQAM’s Joe Rose. “It does seem to get in the heads of the other team. It’s funny. During the course of the week, you would be amazed how little we talk about it during the week. Nobody sees the chain during the week.”

Asked by WQAM’s Zach Krantz about other teams using their own facsimile of the chain, Diaz said: “That’s what Miami did. Miami was a trend setter back in the day. Everybody secretly deep down inside wants to be a Hurricane. It is funny. Pretty much everyone else who plays college football is envious and wishing they were Hurricanes”

Yeah, nail hit head when Diaz mentioned that in his interview last week. We have even seen teams make celebrations against it. Acting like they're ripping it off our necks and what not.

All in their noggin with the links.

Because he grew up a fan and a kid who sat in the Orange Bowl during the glory years. He gets the whole vibe.

They are jealous... Sissies really ing about it after the game using it as an excuse. Dont wanna see the chain... Don't turn it over

What Manny really says after watching opposing Offenses:

We all knew all we needed was the right coach, a financial and facilities commitment from the admin and boosters. We knew we had the best locale for talent and a social atmosphere that is very attractive to young men and women like no other school. What all power 5 knew is happening.

This is so refreshing to hear from Diaz instead of the usual Debbie Downer mentality that has affected this program and fan-base the past decade-and-a-half

Think what you will about him as a coach but that dude just gets UM.

Uh how anyone wouldn't think of him as one of the top 2-3 D cordinators is beyond me or most rationale thinking . He took a D that wasn't even top 70 and made it top 25 in year 1 and made it top 2 in year 2 . I mean that is coaching to an insane degree. Similar to what Richt did . In 2 years he took a program that hadn't been relevant since 2005 and got us into playoff talk and even with a loss to clemson we most likely make the playoffs. It is so nice to have great coaching for the first time since JJ . Erickson and Butch were decent but mix UM with great coaching and watch out.

One day we're gonna really hear how he threatened to kill Eric Dungey's family in front of him if he ever even looked at our sideline again for the rest of his life.

The chain IS in the heads of the opposing teams.

Coaches pre-game speech telling their teams” don’t let them bring out that **** chain” and QB worrying more about throwing a pick cause they know if they DO throw a pick and the chain comes out the stadium and the team is gonna Get lit up.

The Chain has become a 13th man if you will and WE are the only ones that have that 13th man.

God bless you Manny Diaz

Remember what CMR said when he was asked about Swagger. He said something like Swagger is beating the guy in front of you not shooting off your mouth. Something like that. My point is Manny doesn't need to shoot his mouth off and I hope he doesn't make a habit of it because if he does he will leave and it won't be pretty.

You new to the whole Cane thing? Mark just left out shooting off your mouth AFTER your u beat the crap out of the guy in front of you. Manny sounded just like a Cane.

I just hope we don't lose him to a head coaching job, he's finally getting recognition as a Broyles semifinalist. I hope Richt has many more years left in him, but hopefully somehow Manny sticks around to succeed CMR.

How do know what Mark left out? I was there when he gave that speech BTW it was his first. It was held at Dania Jai Lai. My son and i were the first fans there and he was nice enough to to chat with us for a few minutes. I have met him several times since. He is a VERY serious guy and wants nothing to do with old school swagger. I didn't like that position at first but his results have made me a believer.

My first live game was the 1983 National Championship in the OB. I have missed maybe 4 games since and attended 32 away games. Yes I am going to Charlotte. How about U?

If you think Manny "shot his mouth off" you are beyond Charmin soft.

Saying Miami is/was a trend setter is neither historically wrong or arrogant.

How scared are you?
