Diaz Does Not Have to Be Dismissed; But Still Bring Highsmith and/or Butch in to Evaluate Talent

The real CFB programs have senior consultants on their staff. Guys who are too old to withstand the grind of coaching but who are there to impart wisdom. Miami desperately needs some gray hairs around the Schwartz Country Club for Athletic Mediocrity because there are nothing but amateurs parading around that place.
Exactly!!! The current Administration throws spaghetti against the wall, and hopes for the best. You cannot run any organization like this, not even an optimist football league!

Amateurs believe that coordinators are responsible for recruiting their side of the ball - They're not?

and for overall roster management - never said this.

Recruiters have geographic regions. It is not uncommon for the WR coach to be recruiting a DB or a linebackers coach to be recruiting a running back.

Now he's got a winning record and sits 6-1. AT WAKE. Also rebuilt dreadful programs at Richmond, Bowling Green, AND WAKE.

He's the adult in the room we need.

He didn't rebuild Bowling Green, they were average when he got there and with the exception of one season, average the whole time he was there.

He s a good coach for sure but he's got a **** of a QB, with experience there this year, let's see him do it again next year.

This isn't a dumpster fire. This is a program with excellent facilities and a team with talent that's played poorly at times, played very well at times and has had a season changing issue at kicker.

And to answer your question I would throw a bunch of money at Matt Rhule. I think he's the best young coach in college football but i don't think he'd take this job.

Oh, it's a dumpster fire. We're 10-13 since the Notre Dame game. The kindest term you could apply to Miami is probably "sleeping giant," but even that would be disingenuous so long as the school treats football like the red-headed stepchild it never wanted.

Manny is a proud man. He will not be made a eunuch. Better to fire him and put him out of his misery if the rest of the season goes very badly.

Rok, the thing is, Manny has no responsibility in the dumpster fire. 50% of the roster was NOT his responsibility. Only CMR recruited, no one else.

Let him rebuild. If not, lets get Mario or Clawson because they have losing records overall while Butch has a winning record overall. Also, Butch has had TWO full recruiting classes at FIU and STILL hasn't put any of his own recruits in the league. Can you believe that?

Gotta love the brilliance over there at the Hecht. No wonder we run such a great program.

I think we are someplace in the middle.

Clawson is about to do something Butch has never done. Win 10 games twice in his career.

We do have brand new facilities and play in an "NFL stadium," so there are still those selling points. We're also paying more money for assistants/analysts. The program has entered the 21st century. If we were still stuck in 2010 with no IPF, a lousy stadium and no budget for staff then we'd be better off in FCS. I'm convinced that the school will only go so far as to make it appear that they care about winning. And now that there's an IPF, new meeting rooms, locker room -- we're able to put on the facade that we're a big-time program. And that's more than good enough at UM.

I guess you learned your lesson about who is in charge of recruiting?

Butch's last season as a Power 5 coach was during Shannon's fourth year as HC of Miami. His last 10-win season at a P5 level was during the Clinton administration.

Move on. He's not a viable option any more. The game has passed him by. It's over.

You're splitting hairs. He took over a Bowling Green program and got them to ten wins, which they hadn't done for a decade (and only did so with a system installed by and recruited to by all-time great Urban Meyer before he left for Utah).

He also took over a Fordham program that was dead, and now has a Wake Forest program with no business being anywhere close to the Top 25 squarely inside of it and headed to a bowl.

He beat UNC, which we couldn't do. He beat FSU, who we probably lose to. And he's doing it all at Wake, without facilities, a recruiting footprint, or -- quite frankly -- any talent worth a ****.

He's a program builder, and he does it quietly, without having to rely on gimmicks like chains, rings, and the other high school hijinks we see from the staff currently roaming the sideline at Hard Rock on Saturday. It's time we turn these kids into men; Clawson would do that.
