This is the bare minimum of expectations for UM. They have leveled the disadvantages on the sidelines, re not handing teams victories 4th and 17 UNC, is prepared to play VT, and giving more effort GT. I still believe Manny needs to upgrade his assistants but we'll see.
Was not pleased with the hire myself. Need to see the turnaround sustained through next year. At this point back to the cautiously optimistic point.
We've also sat back in Shotgun for the last few games. That takes so much pressure off the Oline (and of course limits the plays you can run). This OL looks light years better then it did the first 4-5 games of the season. There was a point where we all thought they would eventually get JW or Kosi seriously injured at the pace they were going. Season-ending type serious.
And before the “Well, we haven’t played a team with a great pass rush these past few weeks so it’s probably fools gold” crowd pops in, Pitt led the nation in sacks when we played them and FSU was terrorizing team as well. Stopped both teams cold.
Stubbs has earned his praise off what he has done to Wiggins alone. Talk about a huge development with this kid! Another offseason with Wiggins, Pope, Payton and Harley should do wonders for this group taking the next step.
Stubblefeild and Barry have really distinguished themselves. Their units are showing marked improvement and they are developing their players. Much respect to those two. They had to weather all of the adversity that came when the team started at 3-4 but they just kept their noses to the grindstone and kept working. Much respect to those two and the entire staff for hanging in there when the going got nearly unbearable. I would like to single out Butch Barry as his unit was getting an insane amount of heat and deservedly so as that unit was as awful as you will see the first half of the year. Barry hung in there and never let his guys quit. They just kept working and we are beginning to see the results as the OL has made a significant improvement over the last few weeks.
All of these position coaches and coordinators who have stuck it out and have kept coaching and teaching through the shytstorm are motivated by one man and that's the head coach as it all starts at the top. Being the head coach Manny Diaz was responsible for the poor start we had and by the same logic he is also responsible for what is starting to look like a huge turnaround. This team has most definitely turned a corner and has improved in all facets of the game most notably OL, penalties, defense and special teams with WR being in there as well. I'm not here trying to proclaim that the guy is Nick Saban or Dabo Swinney just that Diaz has engineered a nice turnaround in the face of tremendous adversity and deserves to be praised for it.
We still need to finish it out by beating FIU and Duke but that task seems so much more doable than it did a month ago. I remember ripping Diaz and staff for the clown show we were witnessing on a game to game basis and I said that I would much rather Diaz turn it around and prove me wrong because that would be so much better for the program right now. Well, Diaz has gone a good way towards doing exactly that and the finish line is in sight in terms of completing a total team turnaround. Winning out and finishing 9-4 with a Bowl win while continuing to improve is the goal now and it is reachable. If Diaz pulls that off after the way things were going after GT, he will earn major respect and admiration from this fan base and deservedly so. I'm pulling for him and this team in a big way.
Guys, again I'm not sitting here trying to tell you that Diaz is the guy that's going to lead us to multiple titles. I'm not saying that he is some Yoda level type guru/coach. All I want to get across is that after the Georgia Tech loss this team was 3-4 and at a point where the locker room could have completely disintegrated and this team could have easily packed it in and tuned out the staff. That did not happen however and what we have seen is tangible improvement in many areas like penalties, lack of discipline, poor OL play. Erratic and disjointed play on defense, average WR play, terrible special teams and horrendous play calling. We have seen tangible evidence of improvement in every one of those areas in addition to player development and a team that is clearly still together. I'm not saying we're ready for Clemson but I am saying that Diaz deserves some credit for keeping this team together and improving in the face of tremendous adversity.
I wouldn't love anything more than to be all in on the coaching staff. The sad thing is they left us with question marks at the beginning of the year. I will say with confidence that their is marked improvement in a lot of the doubtful areas. Special teams really caught my eye yesterday. JW= better, stretching the field= better, Shaq= better, Ivey=better, etc..I am gonna hold mine until after he brings home three more convincing wins.

Now it has to be consistency. Then I can rest easy with concerns about the staff.
Go Canes!!!
This cuck is still around? Mods must be on vacation. Either that or he knows someone...Lol we’ve been outgained in total the last 3 games. What turnaround is there?
I spit out my cafe con leche. You're my boy.Preach, Knight of the Franchise Order !
Haha yeah, him and Tatesdutyhole are red flag city. Trolls for sure, I just can’t tell if it’s my favorite variety (troll from another fan base posing as a cane) so I haven’t gone for the jugular yet. What’s your assessment? This cuck is still around? Haven't paid much attention to the schtick. Seeing that they suck, we whooped that ***, and they're coach got fired. All in recent time. I'll go on a limb and say it's a semenholes troll...Haha yeah, him and Tatesdutyhole are red flag city. I’m not crowing those guys after a few wins. Let’s see how we attack the rest of the year
That was another one of Manny's rookie mistakes. He should have taken a page out of the Lou Holtz playbook and constantly bemoaned our youth, depth, inexperience at QB, poor special teams and so on. Lou was the master sandbager.Great write-up
If Manny didn't come out front runnin' on Twitter before season started I believe the level of heat would have been less at 3-4
