Well he has officially blown up with having recorded the 2nd best Sparq rating in the country, but he hasn't been invited to the Nike Open which rubbed him the wrong an has motivated him even more to improve his ranking. The transfer to West Orange HS is a little puzzling because their team is good but Dr. Phillips would have been a better choice. Williams named a Top 3 with UM apparently not in running despite being his first offer.

Dexter Williams officially transfers to West Orange from Orlando Olympia


The rumors can finally cease. Dexter Williams is in class at Winter Garden West Orange High School.

The talented running back, who gained a flurry of college football offers last week, has moved with his family into the Winter Garden school's zone and will begin classes Monday.

"My first day is Monday. I just enrolled today, but the campus is nice and I met a coupld of the players and got a BIG welcome from Coach Head," Williams wrote via text Friday afternoon.

Williams, who attended Orlando Olympia for his first three years of high school, is reunited with former Olympia head coach Bob Head, who took over the West Orange program prior to this past season.

"I feel great and I'll be teaming back up with Coach Head and going back to running in an offense that I'm familiar with," said Williams. "It gives me a little bit of relief. I wanted to be at West Orange.

"I look up to Coach Head a lot. He's a good role model and he taught me a lot, so this is the place where I want to be."

Williams will provide a huge boost to the West Orange offense, which loses a large majority of play-makers from this past season's 9-2 squad. Gone will be seniors and top producers QB Hayden Griffitts, WR Garrett Johnson and RB Jamarcus Federick, and*Williams will fill an immediate need at running back.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Williams saw his stock skyrocket this past week after his first college football offers came rolling in from Florida, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee and Ohio State. He is ranked No. 13 in the Sentinel's 2015 Central Florida Super60, and the No. 80 player in the Sentinel's 2015 Florida Top 100.

"It feels great just to know that I'm not as under-rated as everybody else had me and to know that I can play at the next level," Williams said. "It's just a blessed opportunity to have because a lot of people don't have a chance to get offers and go to college."

He admits he once questioned his abilities as he watched other players receive college offers while he had none.

"It was very frustrating. I used to think maybe I'm doing something wrong, or I must not be as good as I think I am," Williams said. "But it actually helped me to motivate myself to work harder.

"I was thinking, though, that I was going to have to play at a DII or DIII college when I really knew I could play at a DI."

He'll be looking to pick up the slack for the senior Federick, who ran for 1,404 yards and 21 touchdowns this past season. Williams had 1.072 and three touchdowns at Olympia.

He will be eligible to participate in spring practice but in accordance with state *transfer rules, cannot play in the West Orange spring game.

He blew up right after we offered, DBC. We offered first and there still is plenty of time to recruit him. He'll visit as well.

My daughter attends West Orange and I photograph several of their football games. WO is a good program football wise and Coach Head is an up and comer.

Olympia is not bad though either so it is a curious transfer.

UM has moved into the Top 5 for Williams after being left out but it will be a tough pull with his love for UF and OSU ( more so Urban Liar).

On a beautiful Saturday at Austin Tindall Park, Dexter Williams took advantage.

The Winter Garden West Orange running back, who surprised numerous people in February when he posted a 117.03 rating at the Nike SPARQ Combine in rainy, blustery conditions at Lake Brantley High School, blew that performance off the charts Saturday.

Williams posted a 131.37 score, good for a current standing of second in the nation, and with the performance earned an invitation to Nike's mid-summer high school football party The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. The events that shot his score up this time were his vertical leap of 44.5 inches and his 36.5 feet powerball toss. He also ran a 4.57 40-yard dash and had a 4.01-second time in the 5-10-5-yard shuttle drill.*

"It's a blessing. I've been working hard with my trainer Les [Hewitt] and just been keeping my mind on the right track and just doing the right thing ... being a great person," Williams said.

Williams has also blown up on the recruiting scene. He has nine offers and all are from major football powers and all have come in the past month.He released a top three in February and it did not include Florida, but Saturday he said his top five are the Gators, Miami, Georgia, Ohio State and Southern Cal.*

"Well ... it's just a family thing, it's a Gator thing. That's all I hear every day. My dad will be in the background talking about, 'Gator, Gator, Gator,' " Williams said. "I have a lot of love for Florida, and plus, that's where I'm from, Florida, and I do want to hold it down for my state."

When Florida was not in the mix among his original favorites, it surprised a few people, including members of the Gators' coaching staff.

"I heard a lot about and I got a couple of calls from the coaches and they asked me why," Williams said. "But I have this feeling in my gut that Florida should be in there."
 
44.5 inch vert? Gat ****!

And that 4.57 40 is not too shabby either. Once he gets in a college program and learns to run that can get to a sub 4.5

I want this cat at Miami, but I don't see it happening.

This kid is the real deal. Whoever gets him is getting one one of the best rb's on tape this cycle. WANT for sure. We need to do well this year and have the Go Gata fall on their collective pusses.
