Devon Dampier Utah QB

I know the staff is working and I know that we shouldn't be panicking...who knows what happens.

But I will say, regardless of all this, we have to address the process. It's worked the past couple of years but no one can argue that this is how we want to be positioned every year with a straight face.

There is absolutely zero reason we should be in a position where we are potentially left holding our ****s coming off the last two seasons, especially at this position.

This, 100%.

It really is asinine…..Miami literally provides the best package (both financially and football wise) for most top prospects.

We’ve gone to a ton of shorter pass plays with Beck and he’s been very successful with it. ****, we’ve even seen Beck be dangerous with his legs the last couple games.

I see no reason why Dampier couldn’t improve upon this formula.
I watched this kid 4-5 times this year
Dampier could handle short passing game.
He’s not extremely accurate
But can make enough throws to keep teams
Honest
He is a very good runner
Our RPO game would be pretty nice

If he’s available
It’s a good fallback option

We don't need a Cam Ward but we also don't want to end up with a mid QB. You also have to take into account how the defense/offense will perform without some of it's best players next(this) year. I'd rather get closer to a sure thing, Cam, than bet on trying to replicate the same formula.
For the reasons you just stated to take into account is the exact reason why he’s the guy. The OL will be solid but not necessarily elite like this year. Which is why you need a guy that can make magic happen with his legs when he needs to.

This will force the DEF to lay off our OL and allow them to grow as the season progresses without being forced to protect a statue-type QB.

Carson Beck is the perfect QB for the 2025 team, as we all see. Dampier would be the perfect QB for the 2026 team with new leaders on the OL and plenty of playmakers around him.

Well, so much for that.

I really don't want to sound like a doomer, but wow, not sure how you are playing in the national title and fumble the QB situation this badly.
