Devin Hester Interview

You listed starters. The roster was thin as **** and im in no way taking up for golden.

How did the tight end sucked when he was a top 3 finalist for the Mackey award? At the time Harris trailed Dorsey as the 2nd leading passer in school history and Morris played in the NFL.

That was enough talent not to lose to a 2 win Maryland team, or to lose to a 4 win BC squad. Or to score more than 6 points against South Florida. Our schedule was easy that year. We also lost to UVA.

Right! Armbrister wasn’t a RS recruit though. He didn’t even commit to RS. Golden took him in like April. But we had talent to win 10 games that year. It was experienced enough to win more. More holes occurred under Golden.
Yeah, the only real point is it's a myth he didn't inherit talent. He did. It would be more accurate to say he didn't inherit depth, because Randy's last class and Golden's transition class were disasters.

Talking te group. Qb group. Db group.

And when he was asked to grow within the offense and do more than the basics, it went poorly. I would have put Devin at tailback and left it at that, but considering that he would have been a disaster at pass pro, I can see why a coach would have an issue with that.

Honestly, some of these guys got in their own way as well. Willie Williams, despite being a relatively intelligent guy was a dumbass in regards to not doing stupid crap. When you flame out at multiple schools, including Louisville under Petrino maybe you are a jackass.
The problem with saying that is, he did that in the NFL. That put him within the top 50 of the NFL statistically speaking. If he's top 50 in the NFL, there is no doubt he could have contributed much more. The bottom line is, the coaching staff did not get the most out of his abilities. He was poorly coached. All signs point to him being poorly coached. The Bears, known as one of the worst offensive franchises the NFL has ever seen, got more out of Hester than Clappy and Blandy got out of him at a much lower level of play.

I think thats what most people mean. Look back at his first roster and it wasn't close to what manny inherited.

Agreed they should have beat those teams. Golden was a **** coach.

I'm not sure about that. Golden inherited a great OL because Stoutland was our best assistant in two decades.

Our OL has been a sore point since. You have to look at the overall roster pictuer.

I agree. You’re right. Unfortunately he never improved on the depth because his attrition rates was horrible.

I'm pretty sure in the VT game in 05 when Coker was still HC, Beason was the starter at Willie's position. I don't think it has much to do with Romeo Davis at this point.
They could have probably lined him up at DE on passing downs, but Beason was definitely the better player.

Davis, again no disrespect to him as he worked hard, but he should've never been on the field for us in any capacity.

I am looking at overall roster.

Golden came in to 1 corner on the entire roster.

That’s sad man. I was actually rooting for RS but some of these coaches have to put their Ego’s aside. WW probably stays out of trouble if RS committed more time to making it work with him too. Obviously it was a challenge here, maybe he embraces the challenge by focusing more on ball if RS took more time with him but when he’s riding the bench in his home city, he gets discouraged but the streets were callin. I was kid at the time but I don’t think WW got in trouble while at UM though.
Bruh, Randy's daughter was my little girlfriend back in the 5th & 6th grades. It was definitely personal for me, but if you ain't got it, you ain't got it. I certainly ain't cut him no slack because his daughter's cute and a sweetheart. Got nothing to do with coaching my squad. You recalled correctly, Willie didn't get into any serious trouble while here. Off-field, he was holding up his end of the bargain, so that makes RS's petty grudge sting that much more...

And despite that Golden took a 10 win team and coached it to 6 wins in 2011. We lost a lot of close games that year where coaching definitely mattered.

Willie did get into trouble while he was here though. There were times Coker and the local pd got his *** out of some jams without anyone finding out about it. Its pretty common knowledge. WW was a ****up. I blame Shannon for a lot and yes, they could have gotten him on the field, but he was still a **** up.

They got 1 year of okay production out of Hester on offense. Hester was in the league for well over a decade, no one else in the league could get any meaningful production out of the guy, outside of special teams. Let that settle in.
