Former Miami commit Devin Gil pledges to Michigan, pushes 2016 class to 17 players
By Brendan F. Quinn June 19, 2015

ANN ARBOR -- Michigan picked up its 17th commitment in the 2016 class, again reaching into Florida's fertile soil.

After adding two-star safety Josh Metellus on Wednesday, the Wolverines added his teammate and fellow safety Devin Gil on Friday.

The three-star safety told 247Sports that he plans on "making a big change for Michigan and helping them win."

Both Gil and Metellus hail from Flanagan High School in Hollywood, Florida. The school is also the home of Devin Bush, the No. 9 ranked inside linebacker in the country, who is also being courted.

"We are trying our best to get him, too," Gil told 247Sports. "I think it's between Michigan and Florida State. He will decide later in the process."

Gil decommited from Miami earlier this week and held a number of scholarship offers, including the likes of the Hurricanes, Louisville and South Florida. Gil and Bush were both at Harbaugh's south Florida satellite camp stop earlier this month, an event hosted by Bush's father and coach, former NFL player Devin Bush Sr. With 17 players committed, Michigan's class is in the top 10 on 247sports' overall team rankings.

Devin Bush Sr. is straight pimping those Flanagan kids Michigan an not even being discreet about it. The true test will be if Bush Jr picks Michigan, which would not be a surprise.

I tried to tell everyone had bad of an idea it was to have Schools like Michigan and Ohio State have these Satellite camps. and ppl were saying no its great because kids get exposure. bull crap. Michigan just did a clean sweep of S Fl prospects.

Bush Jr. picks Michigan if FSU doesnt want.

**** he might be a Michigan lean, all i know is Bush Sr attended that camp mich had and all of the flanagan kids loved it and seemed to be leans.

To be honest they likely are better fits in Big 10 country...again im WEARY of the talent level of those kids regardless.

There has NEVER been a flanagan kid produce in college...**** their best EVER prospect likely is my boy Nick Turnbull who played at FIU early in their footbal programs existence. Bush is doing great getting those kids schollie looks and offers.

Gil likely can play Safety in the bIg 10 IMO. Didnt see him playing that spot here...he is sort of a rover type and we dont have that in our scheme. Marques Gayot film at safety looked much better and he has already been moved to the will backer spot as a freshman. Not a fan of Tweener's at db....which is why im high on Robert Knowles/James Pierre types...those kids played db straight up their whole careers. Gil half of his film he was lined up at MIKE in Flanagan's d and up around the box. He would be a good player for VT or maybe even Michigan...i didnt like the scheme fit at Miami at all.

Rumor going around is that Devin bush sr. and jr. will both go to Michigan. However it's way too early in the process to be definitive

i could see that. You check Bush's twitter he seemed all in on Michigan...throwing up the M and all.

Habraugh wants in on s.fla talent he feels thats an in he can get it. Thing is he can win in michigan just by getting some avg south florida speed kids.....Urb bout to be scared in a min.

He did more than just attend it his name should have been on the camp for all of the promoting he was doing for it.

I'd be more concerned about Michigan if I thought Harbaugh was going to actually be there for more than like 3 years. A pipeline to the fake UM shouldn't be a longterm worry.

They just picked up a commitment from my Defensive End too, Rashad Weaver.

Michigan is trying to make their presence felt down here.

Bush going there is a very realistic possibility. I've coached kids who are friends with him and they said they woulnd't be surprised. Apparently the kids like Harbaugh a lot.

I can see the attraction. Those boys can go up there and take over.
