I would've been soooo happy if he were interested in and committed to osu..... you know, we could've continued our rb flip streak from them.

But yeah, I think we're just out of luck on this one unless somehow Texas season goes horribly wrong.

Miami is +200 to make the playoffs right now, FWIW.

So, not even money, but not some massive underdog. I think we can all agree this is the goal this year and there are a million ways to dissect the season after it’s over but really making the playoffs is a win and missing is a loss. Don’t really know how much more simple that can be.

If you disagree with that, I’d love to hear your logic.

Yes, it’s a harder schedule, but that will be considered when examining the resume. And really, it’s only considered harder because we play ND and what many expect to be an improved UiF. We still don’t play Clemson, who’s the odds on favorite to win the league. I still believe 10-2 with 1 non-con loss and 7-1 in the league gets you to Charlotte, and I still believe a 10-2 season and even losing in Charlotte gets you in. So, make the playoffs, or the season is a failure. I can’t imagine that’s crazy to any of us.

I mean Texas didn’t just find money these last couple of years. They were down for quite a while with culture problems

No one committing to them right now gives a **** who Vince Young is
It is a combo of things. Above table $$$ for players, Sark, and their move to SEC

Manny is fine with others peoples players then he doesnt recruit well and other coaches catch on to his gimmicky stuff and he gets pick apart.
When the talent left there leaves hes cooked just like any other coach that doesn't recruit well, they have up and down seasons and never stay consistent.

So no WOW?

No worst kept secret around? Was told he was a lock.

On a serious note, it'd be nice to keep a local 5 star around at some point. I haven't watched a second of his film, is he that good? 5 star good? Any comparisons? Thanks in advance.

I’ve come around on Sark. When I took a step back and looked at just plain facts in terms of W/L, recruiting and postseason, it’s not close. The money and the SEC certainly help as well. I’ll never be president of his fan club, but he deserves some kudos.

Mario is just held to a different standard than other coaches when it comes to some of our fanbase and it is what it is

I guess Lashlee took a bunch of Manny guys that werent cancers and we just got stuck with the ****** ones that got drafted

He needed refs to rig a game to beat asu. Hes recruiting his *** off and can possibly win it all one day because of it but he’s not an elite game day guy.

What does a good “game day” coach look like? Who is an example of one? I think “not a game day coach” is being overused along the same lines as “but we have the talent” was used by our fanbase for years as they/we deluded ourselves into thinking our roster was better than it was. Not today’s roster, but the rosters from the classes that D$ is dissecting from the 2000’s. “Bad game day coach” to me seems to be used by the fans of the teams that don’t win it all to explain why their team lost a game.

College football fans are fickle. They expect immediate results and when they don’t get them, they begin throwing darts at the coach for poor recruiting, poor player development and/or “bad game day coach” or they blame players for being distracted by NIL. I’m not picking on you. I actually agree with the theme of what you wrote.
