2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

This is concerning considering he’s been Mario’s priority for years now. Texas came out of no where and dropped a crazy bag because they whiffed on others. We also fumbled in ways i can’t share here but this and other major prospects are a bad look on the entire staff.
Bro just stop.

Enough with cryptic nonsense. Don’t even mention it if you’re going to say “but I can’t share” either spill the beans or don’t even hint at it.

You’re gonna make the natives restless with too much of that.

The ignore button is at your discretion. I do not care. I’m just keeping a 💯.

Crazy how having both a strong NIL budget and the on-the field results will have a strong impact on recruiting. These kids watched Texas have to back to back semifinal appearances. Pair that with a strong NIl budget

Yes, we don’t have the same budget as a large public school in the state of Texas, but we still have a pretty damm good one. Look at what we paid for Beck/Ward. The DBs. Jackson Cantwell. Look at what we paid to retain Bain, fletchers and other’s…
Where are you looking to find this budget? Always a joy to read cis manage finances they have never seen.

@Reyrey you think it’s funny?
I can’t laugh at a post? Yikes

The university of texa’s 2024 freshman class alone (9,200 students) is almost the same size and the number of total undergraduates that are at Miami (little over 10,000). In what world do you think Miami will ever have a bigger NIL fund than a state school like the university of Texas? Like are you and @cway313 that slow?

The fact that we’re a small private university, yet we still have a high tier NIl collective is pretty impressive if you ask me. You need a reality check if you think our alumni donations will be greater than some of these top state schools (OSU, Texas, Georgia, Alabama).
Now that you are done arguing against yourself. Where does this small private university post NIL records?

Mark Richt and his 2 SEC titles and 2 Sugar bowl wins disagrees with that statement
OK, let me rephrase it. He’s the first coach that is still in his prime and has his full mental capacities We’ve had that has done that. Because it’s as clear as day now, that Richt was compromised by Parkinson’s.

Trust me I love the inside info. After all these years you learn there are a few guys who are right way more then they are wrong. But in the end the idea of "how did they mess this up/how did they misread" is another go to on message boards. You know the staff doesnt get a "feeling" a kid commits then just stop recruiting him. I'm willing to bet Mario and other Off coaches were on this kid up until the commitment. Mario wasnt walking around telling some analyst or secretary "we got him spread the word on message boards." Probably quite the opposite. With agents, handlers, parents, etc all coaches on all teams are aware of what is going on and they also are smart enough to know "im committing" doesnt mean anything with some kids.
I know we wont stop recruiting some of these kids, but like I said boy I hope we keep progressing up the chain and can get to a point where we can say "you know what, f you and when it doesnt work out or you dont like it somewhere get in line because we arent taking you just because you grew up down the street." So really unless your source is Mario I'd take all info with a grain of salt.

Miami isnt some huge state school with 10's of thousands of alums who bleed orange and green all within two hours of campus. Its 2025, "the state of Miami" needs to be thrown away and we need to embrace the idea that we are more like Notre Dame(gross I know) in the sense that we have a national pull assuming we keep getting better. I live just outside Savannah now and I have probably seen 10-15 cars with UM alum plates in the few years I have been here. I have seen next to no other schools outside of GA/GA Southern then the smaller states schools and a sprinkling of Clemson/SC and a few UF's but not many. When I lived outside Philly I used to go to an LA fitness that had 8-10 people always decked out in Miami stuff. PSU/Pitt, smaller state schools and Miami

Also I love data, info, etc. But what happened 5, 10, 15 years ago, etc is completely irrelevant to today. The college game has been reshaped immensely the past 3-4 years with NIL, The P2 push, etc and will continue to change the next few years as coaches/players/programs learn to adjust. Lets hope Mario and Miami continue to adjust and try to stay near the front. Mario is changing the narrative of QB Killer/Bro ball, Miami fans need to let go of recreating the glory years.

And I want some green and orange Nike's. /rant

My big takeaway is that you work out at LA Fitness.
Isn't that one of those "non-judgemental" gyms where you get reprimanded if you grunt too much during a workout?
Asking for a friend who works out in 1980s style shorts with matching bandana.

I did work out there - I typically went in a Macho Man type tank top and baggy And1 shorts(Think Marques Green from St Bonnies for some of you Mid 40 and older people who actually use to play at that LA Fitness too). I am an outlier on CIS. I cant dunk, The most I ever got 225 was 8 times - and I may have pooped a bit on the last 1, and my stuff doesnt hang to my knee.

Not sure that is true. D said like a month ago he did not have a good feeling about him. Not sure if he changed his tune because I quit following. But it was no surprise to me when he chose Texas.

Months before that he was pegged Cane. We passed on other candidates because they thought cane inside the building. There’s multiple banks reassuring we led for him. It’s been known for 2 weeks now he’s going to Texas.

thats planet. LAF is just your standard big box commercial gym that is reasonably priced.

the luxury gyms are equinox and lifetime and then you have the smaller boutique ones that are popping up like anatomy fitness, dogpound in LA and NYC but those are more influencer celeb focused.

I barely recall the days where I would do 225 for reps, usually 8-10. This was 20 years ago. These days I stick to dumbbell presses out of fear and precaution of dropping stuff on upper extremity such as face or neck...lol....
