Depth Chart for UNC

How much running do you foresee Powell doing?
Enough.

He had a few runs bs South Car when the pocket broke down & was able to get few first downs doing so.

He had 10 carries for 30yds, but was also sacked multiple times which brought his rushing total down to 8yds, but he ran when South Car was playing Man to Man on the outside & didn't have a LB to sit & spy on him.

UNC is going to try to dink & dunk us to death getting the ball out of his hands & they will absolutely have some designed delayed runs by him because no ones expecting it. We need to bring pressure with 4-5 upfront & it's important we put our fastest edge rushers on the field to not let him get outside of the pocket.

Also Tommy Kennedy hasn't even cracked the 2 deep.

What a waste of a roster spot... Never take a GT OL from a FCS school again.
Disagree. Better to have him for a year than have no one at all at the spot. I'd agree if we lost a scholarship spot for a talented freshman, but that just wasn't the case. Scout team needs bodies, too.

No 3rd RB named.

Still Blades OR Ivey.

Who's the 5th actual LB off the bench Huff? Or are we just plugging strikers in after our top4?
The 3rd RB is Lingard whenever he's cleared to play.

Blades is the starter & Ivey will be playing as the 3rd CB this game.

The first LB off the bench is McCloud, followed by Brooks. But the top LB's are Shaq, Pinckney & Rome Finley, Frierson is a Striker which is basically a Hybrid Safety.

So you don’t foresee us playing him like we played Franks, whose running is a significant portion of the **** offense?

I'm sorry if this may hurt some feelings but I really need to see T. Hill at DE play more on that defensive side. No shade to others but he is the nucleus and all around difference maker in what we need to be of a Top #10 Defense again . Just my opinion and outlook of things. More so than the other side of Spyda because he will be doubled a lot.

I just hope he's game shape ready.... So he can unleash!

We got these Big Dawgs in our backyard barking. No more pups in the kennel, time to play em so they can eat!
Lets Get, Get , Get it!

Go Canes! LOL

No, the gameplan vs Franks was to cut the field in half & contain him in the run game.

The game plan vs Howell should be to force him to come off his first read & speed up his decision making by bringing pressure right up the middle with A-gap blitzes while the DE's collapse the pocket off the edge.

He's a TF making his 2nd start ever, so we need to rattle him early by hitting him as often as possible.

We held Florida to 52 yards rushing not including the 1 sack on Franks. We should absolutely shut down UNC's run game. I'm hoping we play tight man or cover 2 man under to take away the short passing game and force the true freshman QB to beat us deep.

The game is sold out. They'll be all hyped up after their week 1 win. It's about us playing to our standard. Time to punch them in the mouth and take our "W" !!!!!!

No changes from Week 0 as expected.

I do however want to see Rousseau & Hill get more snaps, nothing against Patchan he's a good run defender, but they're faster & more explosive pass rushers than him & it'll be important for us to collapse the pocket this week vs Sam Howell.

Also look forward to seeing more players get snaps on Offense. Hightower, Payton, Pope, Wiggins, Mallory & even Irvin Jr all need to play more, and if Lingard & Robert Burns are healthy play them too.

No sense in having all these players sitting on the bench if we're not moving the ball just throwing it to Brevin on every play.
Just seeing it in print makes how incredibly young our O-line is really stand out! The entire 2-deep has only one Jr., everyone else is a true freshman up through RS sophomores. Those who are so down on our offense need to give it some time. That's a lot of youth getting a lot of experience very quickly...and all as a unit. That will pay off dividends in the future as they grow together, but it's also a lot harder for such young linemen to have other really young lineman next to them rather than being sprinkled in among experienced vets that they can rely on for covering their mistakes.

I think you’re right. I was just making sure, because some other people in either this thread or another thread were saying that Powell was a big-time running threat.

As they get better, in 2 years if the line stays the same we will have nothing but juniors and seniors on the front line WITH experience. I'm just crossing my fingers everything works out with the O-Line.

Not big time, but he can run & will, but he's not a run first QB.

If we bring the pressure upfront he try to escape the pocket, then that's when you have guys like Rousseau/Hill & Garvin to collapse the pocket to keep him from dashing outside.

You wanna keep the young guy inside the box & bring heavy pressure right to his face & he'll fold up.
