Wasn't FSU just contending for NC's a few years ago?
Or what about when Meyer was at UF?
How about UCF being undefeated 2 years in a row and beating fvckin' Auburn?
Or is that so long ago that a completely new generation of soft *** Florida kids have been raised?
I've made several valid points debunking this bullsh!t.
The FSU teams of a few years ago were loaded with 5-stars, and they played weak schedules. They had top 5 recruiting classes back to back to back. If we were that loaded with 5-stars, we would be in contention too... right up until we get smoked by a team with some heart.
The one year FSU actually won it, they lucked out with a generational quarterback, and they really lucked out by not having to play Alabama that year. I believe they played Duke in the ACC championship, and then Auburn in the BCS (no playoffs). I look at FSU's championship from that year the same as I look at the one Georgia Tech has from the late 80's..... that's nice, but you didn't really beat anybody.
Loaded as they were, don't you remember FSU getting taken behind the woodshed by Oregon the first year of the playoffs? It was like 55-3 or something truly embarrassing. And I recall Al Golden nearly beating them like 4 years in a row. That team WAS soft. It was a case of talent and a great quarterback masking a whole lot of softness. Then they had their sprirts broken by Alabama a couple years ago, and haven't recovered since. Those FSU teams never played any real competition, and when they did, they got their butts handed. Then Jimbo bolted to Texas AM, and now they're a dumpster fire.
If you're honest with yourself, these Miami/FSU/UF teams are nothing like the ones from the past. The teams in the 80's and 90's, early 2000's. Those teams looked different, and they had a different way about them. You can't tell me that 2013 FSU team is even in the same discussion as the great teams of old.
No way. Not even close.
