Dennis Smiffs' White House- Bat Signal Thread

Maybe you can figure out whether our coaches fully trust three 2nd-year WRs, RayRay, and a couple of true freshmen...
I think they trust Toney and have very high hopes for Moore. They'd be fools to rely on freshman though and not have experienced depth. And I don't know why anyone would believe in Ray Ray until he proves it on the field. Chance has never been healthy. I'm really hoping Carr turns on the jets during summer after his saga this off-season.

We need WRs no matter what. We missed on top guys. What is left is what is in the portal and we have to improve our room. Maybe we do that by taking 3 guys and hoping one hits or the freshman do step up and the rest are floor raisers... I like the Marion add regardless cause I think at worst he's a good ST contributor and has legit potential to be a contributor at WR. this dude Tony Johnson I'm pretty indifferent about tbh. Could be worse could be better. We need guys regardless.

In 2023 we landed three wide receivers and only one is on the roster anymore and he stinks

We aren’t a serious program at the position
Just feels like we're settling a bit after going hard at Branch, Thomas, Singleton, etc. We didn't have Beck yet when we pursued them but was hoping Beck's presence would land us a whale somehow. Could do worse than Marion and Johnson, and perhaps the two of them combined = Singleton/Branch, but I was not expecting to add a second jitterbug type in one week.

My bad, misunderstood you as well.

I was just saying, we knew we didn't have the world's most experienced WR room 5 minutes ago. We knew adding anything out of the spring portal wouldn't change that at all. But, as soon as we add this kid, it'll be 50 pages of crying, when we're in probably the same situation as we were in, if anything it improved, even if it's marginally. But we'll never pass up an opportunity to grab our **** and have a good cry.
I usually suffer in silence, I can't fill 50 pages. Not about the take, but about where we're at.

Did you think it was this kid or Jeremiah Smith, and we went with this kid?

We need bodies to practice. I doubt this kid is going to play very much. Probably WR5.
Just confusing that we'd take both Johnson and Marion is all, since they're so similar.

Fair. I wonder how much they really plan on playing Marion at WR in games. He seems to be a returner first and a WR second. Could be wrong, though. I think he's more of a gadget player, he's not really lining up in the slot like i think Johnson will. Similar size, yes. But IMO not similar player or role.

It might not be too late to move Ray Ray to RB and have him redshirt. He seems **** bent on playing here and we need another body there.
Having to figure out which position is in more need of bodies with a pulse and needing Ray Ray to help out lets us know where we are at as a skill position program

In south Florida no less

This smells like the WR room isn’t as motivated as the staff would like.
Making it really uncomfortable in there with similar body types and skill sets.
The absence of X and Cam as far as leadership and work ethic is a huge void to fill.
Talent is the easy part. Convincing that talent that they have to work harder is difficult.

But then Ny Carr decided to come back. Since he did, we've added two similar players. I want to know why.

Probably because Notre Dame is week 1 and Mario doesn’t want to have rely on 170lb Ny Carr or 17yr Malachi Toney?

Also it’s not like we can bank scholarships for future use, beef up every position and make a run.

We got people who want to be conservative with other peoples' money, and still checking on that 85 man roster limit...

Time to make our run...

Big 10 2027, baby...
