Dennis Dodd on Miami, Cam Ward and NIL

That will absolutely be the narrative that we paid for it as if OSU or UGA didn’t. I think it’s because we got high profile transfers compared to those two schools.

The media doesn’t really acknowledge those teams pay for transfers AND high school recruits too.

OSU got Jeremiah smith because they paid him but you won’t hear that by the media.

Booger McFarland quipped before the game started that they (UM) got the best roster money could buy and I took that as a dig.
Hope it buys us a national title.

At least it is being discussed out in the open, but doesn’t it feel like there is a lot more discussion about how UM uses NIL than any other school? Maybe I am biased but I still get the feeling that college football thinks UM is buying wins, while UGA and Bama are not, or at least I’ve never read an article about the strength of the Bama NIL program.

OSU seems to be only other program which has NIL chatter around it.
And transfer portal. They praise Deion but no one mentions they brought in 40 plus transfers. Who cares!!!!! The SEC paid players forever. I’m so tired of these cry babies that complain. We are doing what everyone is doing.

Good. Word is we are one of the highest NIL's in the country. Why hide from it...
Yep, CIS/Canes Connection could use some new merch…

We're not even in the top 50 though. We should be selling how good we are with minimal NIL. Then use NIL to bring in the holdout stars needing that little extra push.

NIL ranking by school effort
NIL title of article is very misleading. This is a ranking that only includes public schools and is analysis of total cumulative “donations and contributions” findings from 2005 through the end of the 2022 season athletic departments. The list is the nation's top 50 universities (at the end of the 2022 season) who have the most generous givers.

Has very little to do with which are the top NIL schools in 2024. Just look at the amounts listed, No school is spending $170 million on NIL much less nearly a $1 billion. D$ can tell you we are one of the top NIL programs in the country and we should be **** proud of it.

I fail to see why it’s a bad thing to tell athletes that they will get more money from UM, live in a real city instead of a backwater, and play for a winner.

It is cuz we know OSU spent (is spending) way more than us on Ryan Days final stand roster.

All I know is they can mess with the portal and stop the spring window. Still we will get players from there and it ain’t going away.

As for NIL I don’t care what they do. They can’t go back and force players to take less. The cats out of the bag. And I’m certain Mario knows the hate the NCAA has for us and that we are doing things the right way.

Not true. I saw an article talking about OSU 20 million dollar roster with the implication that OSU bought their roster. If I can find it, I will post it.

The portal has been very good to Mario but that aside Mario’s vision also includes the importance of recruiting. We’re in good hands.

I sure hope that's true. We have 1/4 or fewer undergrads compared to our majoir competitors. Can't blame us if our grads (and other supporters) did well in life and want to support out athletes.

its bc miami has one of the best NIL Programs out there along with Oregon and now OSU (who have been very public about their roster).

That’s fair…I believe I saw that and it tied to OSU going all in on this season as Day needs to win especially against Michigan.

I think the general perception is we are buying players based on our portal success this off season.

A revived Miami football team scares the doo-doo out of the NCAA priesthood.

The fact that UM is now allowed to legally do the same crap the SEC and a few others have been doing for decades - uh oh!

It's a more level playing field now.

They've been tilting the table for so long - it's a real threat to their established manner of buying their own players.

Uh oh! Miami can buy too?

We're the team that rattled NCAA football back in the day. Many NCAA rules are due to - MIami. Knocking off #1 ranked teams left and right.

We were having too much fun - and tanking the traditional mighty teams - beating them in front of the Almighty - and America.

My wife's family have always been all Alabama. I know. Don't say it.

And I'd tell them, "Yep, you guys definitely have the best semi-pro team in college football."

The media did the EXACT same thing during and after Miami’s Final 4 run.
