2018 SDE/DT Dennis Briggs from Gateway HS (Kissimmee, FL) at 6'4" 260lbs (an growing) is a Miami prospect to watch over the next year. He has the frame to easily add another 30lbs over the next 2 years (Senior Year of HS + Redshirt year) while still maintaining his athleticism and will play the 3-Tech in college. He has some a few offers from UCF, Vandy, UK, UVA, Pitt, Miss St. and the like. Miami is evaluating him so we will see how things develop over time, the good thing is that UM was in early even if it is not with offer yet. Miami will most likely sign 3 DT's in the 2018 class.
As a soph Briggs threw a 46ft shot put which is impressive for a 10th grader.

Briggs needs to work on his flexibility and finding the ball in traffic; both of these area's are easily corrected with playing time and good coaching. His hand to hand technique for defeating blocks also needs work but again that is coaching. So for he has been getting by on being bigger and stronger than his opponents which will change when he gets to college but one thing that jumps out on his film is that he has a high motor which is something you can't teach. All of which screams a Coach Kool Special.
Briggs carries a 3.3 GPA, so he should be very coach able
