Ties to the local community is very overrated! I lived in the " local community" Long enough to understand these players and there people are gonna do what's best for them at the time. If you think they are going to make a sacrifice to help the " local community" you are not thinking logically. Although there is a few exceptions most of the kids and there people are gonna do as Steve Miller said! " Take the money and run!"

Sorry if I sound negative, I like Jackson and believe he is gonna be one helluva a football player for us. I was speaking in general earlier about the " local community" comment.

Says kids won't help local community in a thread about a kid wanting to "give back" to local community.

Lulz at "not thinking logically"

Carry on.

If Miami wants the raising cane videos to make an impact on recruiting they need to do a feauture on this kid. Talking about giving back to the hometown team could do wonders. IMO

This was a major coup in this class. Might be a kid who needs a year or two, but good lord. Props to the staff for identifying this kid off Spring tape and a camp.

Cook Valentine Rudolph Lane...........We landed a ****load of kids like this in 2014. More than enough nasty to go around if guys are being put in the right spots.

Glad DJ is gonna be giving back. Booker T is an important pipeline and I think Chad and him are landmark recruits for that reason in a way people don't understand. When you win, and you have local kids like Chad and DJ to point to, its a different sale. Duke and Tracy are what we have now for the most part and I look forward to them this year.

This young man will go far in life. I am so proud of this kid for what he stands for regardless if he were to be a CANE or not. Selfless actions like his to give back and mentor the community speak volumes of his character. Hopefully he can be successful in recruiting fellow players to help him mentor. Much respect to him and like it was previously mentioned there should be a Raising CANES vid about him and his organization. This kid will also be featured on College Gameday one day. There are so few feel good positive stories now a days, and I am glad he is one of them!

Great to hear on many levels! The work he is proposing is definitely needed, will have a significant positive impact, and will be greatly appreciated. UM struck gold with Jackson. Obviously, the potential impact of his work on the lives of the youngsters and the community is what's most important, but what he is planning has the added benefit of helping to silence many of the critics of our program who claim UM does NOT care about the inner-city kids. Thrilled about this program and thrilled Jackson is a Cane!

The future is bright for this young man! He will be one of the faces of the Miami Hurricanes for years to come!
