DELUSIONAL.... ZERO EVIDENCE MARIO IS INTERESTED IN MIAMI JOB....

I have first hand knowledge that you are absolutely positively false. The interest is there. You have to recognize Mario has a wife to who needs to be happy when her husband works so many hours. There is a coach on our team who worked for Mario who was told he will be taken care of no matter what by Mario. Lets leave it at that.

No, coaches don't take their families into consideration. Didnt you know that?

doubtful mario would come with Nike resources, my hope is that CMD/Blake/Strawely get canned and we hire a strong AD
who knows what a successful program can do for a school.Highsmith as AD maybe I am delusional but hopeful anyway

The expectation is Nike U offers him a bigger deal that makes him unattainable.

That's exactly what will happen, and like Richt, he will only consider us once he is fired and is looking to land elsewhere. Hopefully we WTFU before that point, but it's getting harder to believe it will ever happen.

We need Mario to have a bad year next year

Mario will always be interested in the Miami job for one reason: LOCATION. He's from Miami, went to school in Miami, and has recruiting ties to Miami. Under the RIGHT circumstance, he knows he could rebuild UM into a powerhouse. The talent in SFL in incomparable.

But, if I was him, I would only pick up the phone once there's a new AD in place and an understanding amongst Admin/BOT that a successful football program IS in the best interest of UM and its academics. The $ brought in from having your school in the playoffs every year can help build buildings and attract donors, students, etc.

To be perfectly Honest....I couldn't care less if he was interested or not...What's his claim to fame, for him to get this level of interest, besides him playing at UM??

Non-stop delusions--- too many of your keep smoking bath salts man!

You're gonna end up eating someone's face..... just stop it....

Mario has never expressed a single interest to leave OU on the rise with unlimited funds...

To a train wreck program needing a huge over-haul to not fall into Division II football category....

At best he'll wait out the implosion and stabilization of the program with new leaders he can trust before he would even talk contract....

Put down your crack pipes on the "Mario *********ion".....
He's NEVER expressed a single interest".... dude you don't know this....go away :)

Mario will always have at least some interest IMO. I'll share a story.

The day of the UM-FIU brawl ('07?) . . . the team used to stay in Shula's Hotel in Miami Lakes before home games. I used to lift at Shula's gym alongside the hotel. Mario is in there. (As an aside, the team and staff were doing non-football stuff--I want to say they were watching a movie--and Mario told me he was too jittery before games to do that stuff so he's in the gym lifting.)

Anyways, I went up to him and introduced myself. He was really engaging and charismatic and mentioned to me he "bleeds orange and green." His love for his alma mater was quite evident. Certainly wasn't for show. It was just him and I chatting. He was so down to earth and cool that he was coming up to me between his sets to talk football w/ me. Really cool experience for me.

That said, he's in a good spot now. And folks make business decisions all the time. Smart business for him to stay in Oregon, considering their resources, the relatively weak PAC 12, etc.

Mario is a UM and Christopher Columbus alum—and his wife Jessica is a Miami native, as well. Miami will always be home.

Started his career as a GA at Miami the final three years of the Butch era. Took a better job at Rutgers under Schiano when it presented itself.

Back to Miami for three years (2004-2006). Left UM to take another better gig; head coach at FIU.

Appeared headed BACK to Miami when that experiment failed; Saban jacked the plans with a better offer, where he spent four seasons coaching up their offensive line and earned title of assistant head coach.

Oregon called with a better gig—offensive coordinator—so he bailed Bama. Spent past two years as head coach at Oregon.

Cristobal has been climbing the coaching ladder for the past two decades—and knows he might've had his best season at Oregon, by way of Herbert and a Rose Bowl win.

Should the Miami job open at the end of 2020 and he is offered—there is zero chance he doesn't come back home. Especially after his stock slightly drops in Eugene without Herbert under center next fall.

Facts.

He would not come...I used to think he would but man. How would he come? He's getting top studs they were never able to land ever in there history. The minute we show interest they will fight and we can beat them in the money game. But we won't spend it......UM has the money to match but will they. Also he would be going to a worse roster talent wise especially up front.

It's a tough one but he may not come to a administration that's at a civil war.
Amen, my brother. Mario a merc and there is nothing wrong with that. I've never in life cheered for any college team other than THE U but I would have jumped the Golden flaming pile for Saban royal carriage. I question why he left for OE but that worked out fine for him when WiIlie left. I hate the NW west and love Miami but no way I trade jobs to HC at Miami right now. If his agent gets rumor going that he longs to return home, Nike will explain why that is just stupid. He will dump OE when the right job comes because, well he is a merc.

I agree with all of this. So we finally get the offense we've been begging for for over a decade, and when it doesn't solve all of our problems Mario is going to come in and take us right back to pro style, bro ****. 8 - 4 for life.

It sucks right now to be a Cane fan....but sitting back just reading recently. I have very little hope. I for one know we will have staff changes by this same time next season. Hope we take winning seriously

Exactly. Ferman keeps shoving this down yall throat and you buy it. No reason why he would come here.

The BOT has 8 million reasons plus the other buyouts for Manny and his crew for him to not come here.
The ipf is the only recent upgrade we’ve had and it was done with a huge donation and the rest of the money came with *** kissing. Most of the important facility upgrades were done with big donations from boosters or former players.
Hence the Dwayne Johnson locker room. This school no longer supports the football program so why risk his future reputation as a coach by coming somewhere where he won’t get the same talent on the field or the same support to upgrade everything football related.
His wife loves Miami great. I bet his wife
Loves his paycheck more. If he shts the bed at Oregon then he has to come hear as a last resort.
He will then have to recruit without the bags or facilities or recent success the programs he’s coached at have had.
Think about what he would have to do next year if Manny is fired. It would mean our team had equal or less wins than last season. You think him coming here is going to erase any memory of the last 3 years to any elite recruits Just cause he showed up on campus after also failing at Oregon?
Y’all delusional AF.
Unfortunately as a program we are down to few options. Many of you think it can’t get any worse but it can.
Our best bet is that Manny balls the fck out. Or MARIO wins a natty and the BOT says fck it lets spend money and get him Home.
If Manny shts the bed and more chaos comes it will only prolong the status quo of our team being a laughing stock and only a top coach will entice any kid to come.
The BOT keeps ignoring the obvious reasons why elite coaches won’t come here. This school is not commiting the financial resources to recruiting and facilities nor staff support to compete With the schools that are snatching recruits from there own backyard.
I would love nothing more than a coach like Urban to come interview for this job only to come out in public and say why he didn’t take it.
Just look at the drama we’re having just with hiring Zo.
Imagine a coach coming here demanding sht be torn down and built brand new all over the athletic department. Imagine him saying. Need another 50 people on our staff and athletic training and nutrition side. I want a football only cafeteria and study center. And it wouldn’t stop there. And this imaginary coach would not be asking for anything that is out of the norm in college football. He would be asking for things that are already in place on a bunch of p5 teams. Especially the playoff ones or the ones that are knocking on the door.
