Defensive tackle

I don't know why people are surprise. You hire Felder to have our players lose all of this bad weight, so obvious we are going to be quicker. You them give them the ability to use their new found mobility to make plays without thinking. If this team doesn't be much approve on the defense line, I will be surprise.

Moten and Jenkins are not very good.

Nobody would even recruit Norton for DT...only OG. He is starting because that's how bad our depth is.

Willis will prove to be the best player, and I've got my fingers crossed on McIntosh. These two guys are the only Miami calibre DTs on the roster....just two players.

This is still one the worst units in the power 5 conferences once you take the orange and green glasses off.

Dont troll. You've been warned.

its not a troll. go back and read about Norton's recruitment. He wanted to go to UF and FSU and play DT, but they wanted him at OG.

Moten and Jenkins haven't done anything significant or stood out. yet someone posted that they will play in the NFL. did you give that poster a warning?

Just because you disagree or dont like what I say, doesn't make it a troll, so cut the crap already.
Shut the f uck, Canadian fa ggot

lol that was tough to read.... And very exciting news from someone with credibility. Hope to see plenty of disruption in the backfield especially against the cupcakes.

I told you all Norton and Courtel would end up at Miami an got crap for it. Then I told you all they would be very good once they got here and got crap for it. Now look DMoney is telling you all the same thing and some are giving him crap for yet.

when are ya'll going to listen and trust the process an stop trying to rise to the ocassion.

Go Canes

I enjoyed watching the d-line work at the end. Looked like Courtel Jenkins had a good rep there.

Got ****! Got ****! Got ****! We got a DL and these teams gonna be like, "these aint the same Canes I saw the last 5 years"!

A couple of years ago, DMoney started a thread that discussed the importance of the DL in College Football, and used the SEC as an example as to why they have been successful. Additionally, when Miami was in their prime and winning championships, we had whales (Maryland, Kennedy, Brown, Sapp, etc.) dominating the DL. This thread makes me feel a lot better about the direction of where the Defense is going.

Still think Norton is the rock star of the group.

Incredible feet for a man his size and him learning to use his hands should make him unblockable.

It's amazing the difference between Dline last year and this year( basically same players). It just shows how bad a coaching staff we had

People wondering why they haven't seen much on field production from this unit? They weren't allowed to make plays. Their job under the previous staph was to occupy blockers (play patty cake). If you broke into the backfield and made a TFL, you got benched for "freelancing". These guys aren't bums. We're talking about some highly regarded recruits. Willis was 5 star and Moten was 4 star. (BTW, neither is starting) I think D-line is the deepest and most talented part of the roster.

The season cannot start soon enough for me.

Regarding Martin, he's a guy that you forget about until 3 years from now and see what you've got as a redshirt soph.

Its funny people where saying that 2015 class was a fail but we got two of our starting DTs from that class, both starting over a five star kid

I would still like to see us take 2 DTs this year. Players in that position tend to go pro when they are ready and we are looking at a potentially shaky situation in 2018.

I think we should always take at least 2 DTs every recruiting cycle.
You never have enough of them, and you can always move some of them to OL if they don't pan out at DT.
But it's like that cliche about having quality arms in a pitching staff: you never have enough of them.

Can't wait for 3/4 of them to gang tackle and lay on top of Dalvin. Richt says the D is swarming. Can't wait for the season to start

All these guys were recruited by top programs. As group they were non existent because Golden told them to just stand up and hand fight the OL. I hear guys talking about moves Kool been showing them. Never under Golden. Players couldn't rip, swim etc. It was the easiest thing to block or DL. I promise that will not be the case this year

God I hope you're right, but I'm finding it difficult to believe they'll be that good. If they are, I'm gonna punch al in his p*^^y.

Why is it hard to believe? There is enormous talent at DT combined with experience and the best DL coach in the country.

Experience and coaching I get, but when did the talent happen? Nobody has said a kind word about DT recruiting or talent in at least 2 years, so I'm wondering what's changed? To be clear, I expect a bunch of improvement (exp&coaching), I'm just not getting why the guys everyone *****ed about last year are talented this year.

The talent is there. I don't much care what recruiting gurus say about the DT position. It's an incredibly tough position to predict from HS to college, and the bust rate is very high.

Look at some of the purportedly super blue-chip DTs we missed--Keith Bryant, Jay-Tard Bostwick, Valentine. We missed on those guys, and that's why our recruiting at the position has been ridiculed. As it turned out, sometimes the 2nd choice at DT is better than the first. Folden actually got lucky missing on some overrated slobs.

Spot on. Michigan State and Stanford seem to always do a tremendous job of finding under the radar types that turn out to be really good players.

There's such a huge premium on grit at that position. It's almost impossible for fans to evaluate that off a few plays on a HS highlight reel. On top of that, it's tough to predict who is going to grow from a marginally athletic DE into a plus athlete at DT.

Meet me in Temecula.

Here is the thread. I think it still holds true.

Ohio State a really good DL in 2014 with Joey Bosa, Adolphus Washington and Michael Bennett, Alabama had a monster DL last year with Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson. Clemson was also carried by their DL, which featured Shaq Lawson, Kevin Dodd and DJ Reader.
