Defensive stats since Manny’s arrival

They have played numerous top 10-20 teams

Notice any difference between those schools and Miami? Most have been in the Playoffs, they have LBs leave early, next up - that is not our case - those three last year erased a huge block of playing time for potential stud LBs in the program.

A big reason this board is so schizophrenic is, they cling to the days when we were one of those teams and loose site we no longer are. Several of those schools also are able to recruit the shelves bare in South Florida and leave the crumbs for the Canes, FSU and the Gators to fight over.

I played small college ball, the first thing I looked at was the years the guys were in, in my possition - it worked for me. I chose the place that got me to the field- I beat out the senior and started all four years. They didn't recruit my position much the rest of the time I was there, or the other OL - that caught up with them when we all graduated.

No they haven’t. They have played Mississippi and Texas A&M who are both in the top 40 in total offense. After that, Georgia the next best offense they’ve faced and they are 80th in the country

Does Alabama have way more talent on their defense than Miami? Yes. Should they be statistically way better than Miami? Yes. But they’re not and it’s not because they’ve played a bunch of good offenses. Like I said originally, Mississippi and Texas A&M are good offenses. Georgia is average at best and the rest are bad. FSU scores more than MSU MIZ and TENN. That’s how bad those teams are

The point from the very beginning is that the stats are meaningless. Always been the point.

You continue to use stats as a basis for your point but it is completely flawed. By your argument teams like Western Mich, Colorado, UFC and North Texas are better than UGA because statistically they have a higher rank in offensive categories.

Its suits your purpose to say UGA is below average because of their offensive stats but you would never claim West Mich is better than UGA because they rank higher offensively. You would never claim West Mich is on level with Bama or UGA. At least I think you wouldn’t.

As I asked before, who is above average because before you said UGA is below average. Can you say who is better without giving stats….especially stats that put teams like Western Mich over UGA. Becasue if you use stats to say UGA is below average, then you have to also state, based on that same stat, that West Mich is not only above average but a great team.

You gotta get of the stats and evaluate these teams on the field and who they play. Not some stat ranking that has teams like North Texas as one of the highest.

Man, you are still either completely missing the point or trying to move the goalposts again to better your argument. I never said UGA was average. I said their offense was average. Try reading posts. The whole point was that Alabama’s defense has not played against a bunch of good OFFENSES. Georgia is a good team because they have a really good defense. Their offense is statistically average. And none of that changes the fact that Mississippi State, Tennessee and Missouri are all terrible offenses. There is zero evidence that says otherwise. Maybe you’re just another SEC slurper who thinks these terrible teams would be good in another P5 conference but unfortunately that’s just not the case. Just because your feelings tell you those teams are good, there’s no actual proof that those teams have good offenses at all

If you want to be the best, you have to believe you are the best. The minute you hem and haw "well, maybe I'm not good enough to beat out Jamal but I think I'm good enough to beat out Joe" you've already lost at the P5 level. Ever wonder how some school signs three BC QB's in three years? Because those players have EGOS. And they should. If you think you're only "G5 material" you'll lose every time.

And Florida... But, I said Top 10-20 teams, wasn’t specifically talking offense. My point was that higher level of competition tends to lead to lower-ranking stats. I hear you though.

The North Carolina game is a fact but it certainly skewed all our stats for 2020.

Stat guys are usually deficient with their eyes. We played pretty crappy defense all year, and we always **** the bed against competent QBs/OCs. We also got lucky facing a bunch of backup QBs this year. And we still put up really bad numbers.
