2027 defensive lineman Xavier Perkins spent plenty of time around the Hurricanes program this past week, watching multiple practices as well as Saturday’s scrimmage/recruit party. A versatile lineman who can slot in as a 3-tech or edge rusher, Perkins seems to have narrowed his interests between Miami and Virginia Tech — emphasising the culture and connection he has to both coaching staffs.

Judging both this interview and Gaby's comments from a couple days ago, only hold up here seems to be if kid really sees himself as a pure edge. Honestly it looks like he has a frame to gain weight jmo

If he is at least open-minded to position versatility he's a cane all the way. If it's a hold up for him and he wants keep his weight down and be a definite edge he will be Tech's.
 
I'm a fan of Perkins. His style of play is similar to the guys we had last year- heavy hands, aggressive, smart and powerful. He's also a strong shotputter (54'7.25).

He's in the Bain, Mesidor, Scroggins mold. Not saying he will develop into a first round pick, but that style of play and usage.
The hidden tidbit here- Scroggins is gona be a dude. JT is about to go on quite the run in terms of development and success story’s 💪🏻😈
