Defensive Line

Yall have to look at what the d-line was asked to do too. It's clear the gameplan was to not allow franks to beat them running. They weren't just lining up pinning their ears back like uf was doing.

There’s truth here , but the dt’s were bad, they were stoned all night. Majority of our pressure last year came from inside.

Willis was a huge loss and there’s nobody in that dt room that can make up for it.

He caved that pocket at will.

I agree and have said we don't have that quick 3 tech like willis or mcintosh. The chigozie guy showed some quickness on the ucla film i saw but i don't remember seeing him that much last night.

Yall guys have to be patient. You have guys playing that haven't played that much and they will get better. This was ford and patchan first start and by far the most they ever played. This was rousseau first real game.

UF avg 1.9 YPC last night. I’d say the DL had something to do with that. But that’s CIS, when we lose we just find shlt to complain about.
Btw, Patch graded out as the top player and had an awesome game.
Garvin graded out 3, Ford 4 and Bethel 6 overall in the team.

I want to see constant pressure. We have too much talent for them to look so lethargic at times. Look at John Chavis' D against Enos.

Garrett was a got **** monster.

I’ve been saying we have a lot of red flags , tbh I wasn’t expect much this year . 9 wins with an easy schedule, I just expected to beat uf because I knew they wasn’t that good. A paper tiger.

The youth will improve , but we are far from where we need to be. We need talent and depth:

Ford and Bethel are average at best DTs... Bad luck that Nesta got injured.. he is taking over a starting spot when he comes back and is easily the best DT on the team.

Jon Garvin doesn’t pop consistently like Joe Jackson did his entire career which is something I’ve always said while ppl would act like he’s better than Jackson just bc he has better “bend” in his technique... when you are a freak like Jackson you don’t need bend when you can knock an olineman off balance with just one arm and then chase down the ball carrier from the opposite side of the field.

Patchan is what you get from a player with one career sack. Y’all saying he had a good game I missed it.

Rousseau looks good but didn’t get enough reps imo. Travon Hill looks promising as well just needs to get in shape.

In the end we will miss Gerald Willis and Joe Jackson those two aren’t replaceable... they would’ve destroyed this Florida oline.

Of course we need more talent and depth. We have more talent than basically all the shîtty acc teams except clemson and fsu might be kind of even.

We aint ready for the elite teams by any stretch. The hope is we win 10, look at least respectable in the acccg, and get a decent opponent in the bowl game that we can beat. Stack wins these next 2 years and get better recruits.

Let’s all remember that Garvin and Patchan were molested a good amount and only drew 2 flags. Hate blaming the refs but that was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen officiated.
i saw plays where they were holding the back of patachans jersey. like blatantly obvious.
i cant believe anyone can complain about hte defense.

Think the game plan was to be disciplined and contain Franks and make sure he didn’t gash us tucking it. Lot of plays we rushed 3/4 and had a spy.

This. If you didn’t see this, you weren’t paying attention. Several plays Garvin dropped off the line to make sure franks didn’t run.

I’m sure you watched the tape but PFF disagrees with your assessment
1. DE SCOTT PATCHAN - 75.9 GRADE

(
Snaps: 43
Notes: Patchan recovered a fumble early in the game, which helped swing the momentum to UM’s side after a rough early portion of the first quarter. PFF credited Patchan with three quarterback pressures—which tied for the most on the team—while not missing a tackle on the night. His run defense grade was a 79.0.

They got to step the Fvck up, trevon hill and Rousseau got to play more, he looked like a difference maker out there(1 sack 2 tfls). He could have had more. Garvin got to step the Fvck up, he should hav abused uf oline.

Nesta will for SURE be back in 3 weeks so only miss 1 or 2 more games

1 sack and 5 tfls is not going to cut it period....

I know Some of that is due to the type of plays Mullen calls and he gets the ball out fast so not a lot of opportunity for negative plays but still. I was Disappointed in their pass rush. They were very impressive however in the run game.

"trevon hill and Rousseau got to play more"

Agree 100%
I thought the pass rush was better when they were in there.

Is that the picture when Florida scored the TD or converted one of those fourth downs??

Patchan got less than an inch off the ground to try to bat the ball away and missed every time.... any DE with a slight bit of athleticism would’ve been able to bat those balls down easily especially at 6’6” tall. I just wasn’t impressed... his motor after he gets in a position to beat his man is non existent.

FL got 43% of their yards on two plays (65 and 66 yards). With that said BIG PLAYS WIN GAMES . The best teams make big plays and prevent big plays.

This.

This ******* exactly.

The D played very well minus the clown show on TD run.

Other than that, no compliants.

AGAIN, this L is 100% on the O....and within that, 100% on the OL.

If you could lay blame on any phase of game, it was an L earned by the OL.

It is not the OL coaching. Just ******* STOP that Kehoe, Searles, bubba down the steet are corches.

Recruiting OL has utterly FAILED Miami.

It is the athletes are painful lack there of past and present.

Garvin needs that dog in him, he let that Florida DE out play him all game... that Florida DE wanted it and had that dog in him all night.

Garvin a little too finesse for me some times. Better watch tapes of Joe Jackson knocking mfkrs out the way with one good arm and attacking the backfield... Garvin had it made with Joe on the other side chasing plays to his side for two years now it’s time for him to step up and be that same level of impact player.

Agree

It was by design...make Franks beat us from the pocket it worked for the most part we just shout ourselves in the foot with special teams and terrible OT play
