Defensive coaches’ roles comfirmed

Trying not to ask in a bad way, but are we the only team that needs 2coaches for db’s and 2coaches for LB’s??? Or is that kind of normal???

Teams split their staffs up in all kinds of ways.

I’ve seen staffs split DBs, LBs, DLs.

Want to recruit better? Stop wasting time and banking everything on 5-stars who are going to be bought and sold. Start seriously recruiting and offering 3- and 4-star kids from South Florida who can come to Miami and develop into very good players. Over the past 3 years we passed on a lot of very good and talent kids who could be stars here. You start winning and better kids will come. Get back to the basics.
Exactly........
That was the original formula. The younglings don't know that.

Other than it being essentially the exact same staff that has been responsible for whiff after whiff after whiff for 3 years, why would it worry you?
People want to keep deluding themselves into thinking the composition of the staff matters when it comes to kids everyone is crying over. The defensive staff isn't the problem. Win alot or pay alot. Those are the solutions. Nobody retained was responsible for not winning enough. They're not responsible for not paying enough either. Let the offense reach the same standard that the defense has set. We'll still lose the same elite South Florida kids but the kids in the Ivey and Hall range will come and we'll have a top 10 class like 2018. I imagine we'll still find a way to focus on the kids that are really out of the staff's control anyway.

Happens on a lot of teams for at least one of the positions on defense. Alabama splits the LBs and Clemson splits the DBs just to name the two teams at the top.

The arms race is about resources. You either commit as a university to prioritizing spending money on recruiting or remain several tiers below elite.

I wondered the same thing when we originally hired Banda and Rumph to do Safeties/Corners. But there are a good number of teams doing this now. You'll see Inside LB and Outside LB coaches, DE and DT coaches. I wouldn't say it's super common but it's definitely happening at other programs.

Agreed. We couldn’t even do the basics on offense nor special teams. What makes one think we’ll have stud recruiters knocking down the doors of 5* kids and convincing them to come to the U, versus taking bags from other schools.

We need to get back to fundamentally sound football, the first of that being getting 3-4* kids that would die to be at Miami, will train accordingly, and will play with havoc and abandon. We never were a 5* exclusive club, we were born from the play of kids who no one else wanted.

Recruiting is more than landing 5*s. It's pursuing and landing the solid, gettable kids. This staff isn't doing that well either.

Appease him for what? Was he in such high demand that we were desperate to keep him in staff?
I agree with you just throwing out a hypothetical since Diaz decided to keep everyone.

I wonder if Richt hadn’t announced the promotion if he would have been given the job. Just wondering how he qualifies for the job.

Manny has shown he doesn’t care about feelings hence him hiring an outside dc. Wish we had someone that just focused on ST.

Does bama and Clemson have a dedicated st coach?

They do not. Bama and Clemson's ST coaches also coach TE's
