Roberts will be inside. Either way he’ll have a real hard time getting time anywhere on our dline next year. Don’t see it. If garvin stays, we’re still about 5 deep at end and about 6 deep at tackle. With guys better than him right now.

I could see him starting at strong side and eventually sliding to three technique in year two. He’D be nice depth to de next year before moving sophomore year.

Starting Roberts out at SSDE isn't necessary. He's a relatively clear 3Tech and should be placed in there immediately to optimize his development. If we'd absolutely need a body at DE, he could play out there temporarily ala Pat Bethel. With our current DL situation, it benefits us and him to just pop him into where he's projected to play later on.
