We all love Dee Jay for his leadership, heart, and toughness, but he's caught fumbleitis....

The game stats said he lost 2 but he actually had 3 fumbles, with last one on the final drive but he got it back quickly.
Like everything with the offense, he needs to work on this

What he needs to work on is securing the ball with two hands in sloppy conditions. He isn't even close to the reason Miami lost.

We should be good enough that two turnovers do not cost us games against Duke

We looked as if we've never played in the rain before, at Miami. The whole offensive staph/team was a failure last nite, again. This is bigger than DJ, although he didn't help much.

Turning over the ball twice which led to 10 points, in an 8 point game "isn't even close"?

No it didn't. It led to 3 points. Defense held on first turnover and still retain the lead. Duke's last touchdown came after the blocked kick. Miami was up 12-10 and Duke drove 65 yards aided by a stupid face mask by Smith and two, I repeat, two jump passes from a kid not named Jones. The first one was a fluke. The second one we were completely out of position and the tight end catches his first touchdown of the season. Let's see down 17-12 with 12:56 and in comes Perry. Deejay fumbles on screen that leads to no points. Richt then on next drive and going forward he gives up on running Homer who was effective and got pass happy. Incompetency everywhere.

Yes, let's blame the players. Only bad coaching loses to a team that has inferior talent 90% of the time. We may not be Clemson but we sure have a **** of a lot more talent than Duke. Add in Boston College and Virginia. All 3 losses are on the staff. If there are cancers in the locker room as Brown suggested then that is on the coaches because most of these kids are disillusioned. They upperclassmen saw a bad staff. The one before this one. I'm sure this is deja vu all over again.

Agree, this is why we lost but a symptom on the overall problem.
He's learning and add so many other good things to the team and program.
But 3 fumbles, when all week the focus in practice was on execution, is not good

I feel for Deejay. His 80 yard TD was awesome and sparked us early. He had never fumbled before this game. Then 3 fumbles...at bad times in bad areas of the field. Ugh.

He's been one of better players and a vocal leader this year, and I'm sure he's beating himself up today. Great player who had a really bad night.

My Dad was a high school coach for 40 years. He never got upset at a kid for a physical error. He knew those would happen. He would, however, make kids runs for mental errors. Dallas had a couple big physical errors on the fumbles, but he has been a huge help to this team. Of course, you could argue that the second and third fumble was a mental error - two arms in the rain, my friend.

The real mental errors occurred on the coaching side. The offensive game plan and the clock management at the end of the game were huge mental errors. We can't blame a kid who plays his *** off for the loss when the mental game plan by the offensive staff was atrocious.

I wasn't blaming the players in that post. I meant it literal, that we shouldn't turning the ball over against Duke.

He just lost his fundamentals. Probably never has to think about it. In each fumble, he was carrying the ball away from his body. He needs to do what golfers do for their swing and that is to put a glove under his armpit in practice. That glove should never touch the ground. That means carry the ball "high and tight."
