Decommits + Portal’d out ‘Canes Thread

Skinner, Popo, and Spencer would be all over the field.
Do you think Skinner would?? Brohm as the offensive guru got him 1 catch for 4 yards in 24, 21 catches for 204 yds and 2 td last year and this year on pace to crush his 22-25 seasons combined (31 catches for 350 yards TOTAL in his career) and this year he has 12 for 248. If he is still super tall and skinny and cant really block, with as little as we use TE in non-blocking roles I would question him. Popo yes he would be a step up and easily be in the 2 deep and I agree with spencer as well on certain teams and packages.

The one that still throws me off is Ajay Allen. Every time he came in the game for us, he seemed to run hard and good things happened. 4* RB out of HS, #5 overall back from On3, commits to Nebraska, plays well as a TF, we take him in the portal and Nebraska fans were ****ed. He played well for us in his role and I thought he was leaving to try to be a feature back to get more carries, goes to FIU (that move made me think he possible had a kid in Miami or something similar) but only spent the spring at FIU then goes to Tulsa, plays in all 12 games, average 5.1 yds a carry, 500 yds, team leading 5 tds and now is at western Kentucky. Just a weird trajectory.

Kaleb Spencer and D’onta Simpson are the only guys that would see the field.

Mario and staff have generally done an excellent job of retaining in the portal era.
Tommy at Ole Miss may have been a starter for us at OG or RT.
Graves at Ole Miss may have allowed us to keep Fitz at S.

You're lying your *** off by naming Skinner. That boy was horrible here and I remember him dropping passes.
This has nothing to do with what he was, but rather what he’s become. And the guy is a legitimate weapon at TE, albeit one that is not every down. It’s wrong to say he wouldn’t see the field here.

They way we use TEs, I highly doubt he would make a difference. The main objective here for TEs are to BLOCK. Skinner isn't blocking anyone.

this is one of mahi of Dawsons biggest flaws . Uss the **** te over the middle , double moves on bubble screens . It would open those screen up so much more . Instead they jump the play because Dawson is dumb

Hard to imagine because we recruited CJ Daniels to his spot in 2025. He did lead Alabama in touchdowns (8) although his receiving yards and receptions took a hit when he left.

Honestly I am more than fine with how it played out for both sides w/ Horton and Young the year prior.

Might’ve been better for us in the longterm too because Josh Moore got a lot of run as a freshman and now owns large catch radius red-zone target spot as a sophomore. Keenan’s emergence as the year went on was a real benefit because he was a burner w/ reliable hands and YAC ability. Moreso the fault of Carr, Trader, and Chance for not seizing the opportunity presented to them.

Rob Likens made a good eval w/ IH tho.
Horton was an L for Us. We Really could have Use him last year & This year too.

Malachai Toney, Daniels, Horton makes a diffrence . Yes in the Playoffs vs Indiana too
He could get separation with Size to add.

But it was not to be.

Biggest Bust from Mario years?
Cyrus Moss
Awesome compilation/update. You can add: Artavius jones has two assisted tackles this season for UCF.

We have a lot of DEs in his mold and hadn’t really had a successful undersized pass rusher archetype since Trent Harris, who we’ll see on Duke’s sidelines later this season. Jafari Harvey ended up becoming successful at SMU

Davis’ emergence has me feeling better about the undersized edges on the roster atm

Antoine Jackson got his third career interception against TCU this past weekend. Is in his fourth year, could return for a fifth next go around.

Productive cornerback who is on his second season as the main punt returner. Has 14 career PDs, including 3 this season.
