The size will be a concern but that pass rush production typically translates. Trent Harris might have been slightly bigger coming out but had a really good career here rushing the passer. If this guys career matches that, we will be pretty happy.

At the very least, we are flipping guys from the right types of schools.

Schematically, Miami is pitching Lafayette on his fit into what they do and how they free up their defensive ends to be havoc creators.

"That's really what they're leading with," Lafayette said. "Hetherman, when he talks to me, he told me I'm one of his favorite players in the class. He can see me coming in, he's not sure if I'm going to switch to defensive tackle or not, three-tech. He said if I come there, I can start out on the edge and see where I go from there. He wants to see how my body grows."

The above was less than a month ago. He’s not a backer, he’d play edge.

It seems Hetherman is the one pushing/recruiting him. Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.

"...Said an announcement could come in the “near future.” Miami, Florida State, Vanderbilt and LSU have remained involved with Lafayette over the last few weeks."

The Hurricanes have done a good job recruiting the 6-foot-0.5, 230-pound EDGE, who projects well in a JACK-type role.

“Their pitch to me is they want me to know they want me and they know that I’m a player that will be put to use,” Lafayette told CaneSport. “(Rueben) Bain and (Akheem) Mesidor and a few other ends are leaving and they need people to replace them and they think I could be one of those people.”

“Really (I value) stability right now,” Lafayette said. “That’s the big with me right now is just stability in the school I’m going to. I already know all the schools I am considering are willing to take a shot at me and also I know that they believe I can play at the school and I have a shot to play there with my skillset, but it’s just stability really.”

Think he lands here

He would be reunited with former teammate 2025 OT Jaden Wilkerson who played for Lake Nona HS 2 years ago.

Go Canes
His issue on why he didn't commit to us and why he cut his OV short was not football or NIL related. I think it's something that can be smoothed over and repaired, but it helps that LSU is changing the coaching staff also.
