"We had a 5 a.m. practice and Jason Taylor came by and watched our whole practice," he told Rivals. "After we talked...and he offered. He told me my hands were elite and the speed I play with is impressive, so he overlooked my height and said he was gonna be the first Florida P4 to offer me. "I'm excited about this one!"

Lafayette, who registered 17.5 sacks in 2024, has been to Miami several times as a recruit, but each side is working on additional trips now that he has among the scholarship prospects the Hurricanes are pursuing.

"It means a lot," he said. "They’re real close to my family and to be coached by Jason Taylor is a big deal. "I'll definitely have to move some (visit) dates around." "Just got off the phone with (Mario) Cristobal -- great guy," he said. "He was just telling how I'm the latest offered Miami Hurricane and they want to get me out a few times before my official visit."

Lafayette, who has added offers from LSU, Oklahoma,Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Pitt and others since April began, says he will soon announce an official visit schedule to follow spring football at LNHS.

Kid is an absolute blur off the edge but at that size you gotta be.

Just gotta wonder whether he can hood up at DE a that size.

The occasional tweener is OK you just gotta be a very good tweener.

6'1 230lbs verified?

Appears so.

These sawed off edges you have to space them out if thats where your going.

This was a class i expected us to go for more Hayden Lowe size guys...this kid film is pretty good. He would have to hqve a role as a jack backer type who tops out at that 6'1 245-250 if he can get to it.

After adding offers from LSU, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh and Miami, which offered last week, Lafayette told 247Sports he will officially visit each of them.

His visits begin May 30-June 1 at in-state Miami. The Hurricanes offered May 2.

Pitt, which offered two weeks ago, will host Lafayette for an official visit June 5-7.

LSU got involved with an offer in early April and is now set to host him for an official visit June 13-15.

Lafayette's plan is to wrap up the visit period and head into the two-month recruiting dead period with a June 20-22 official visit to Oklahoma. The Sooners offered April 10.

It is a markedly different official visit list than Lafayette set coming out of the winter. At that point, Boston College, Florida Atlantic and Appalachian State were on his schedule. He made 73 tackles, including 17 1/2 sacks and 18 tackles for loss, forced three fumbles and was credited with 47 quarterback hurries.

It don’t be weird to yall to go on every recruiting post & then criticize 16/17 y/o KIDS about their height/weight?

How bout can the dude play football?? How does he play vs better or the best comp? Things like that are more prevalent than his jock size..

Most these bamas ain’t even hit puberty all the way yet let alone done growing into their adult body..

Just for reference at LNHS 2 years ago 2026 DE DeAnthony Lafayette had to face current UM rising star OT Jayden Wilkerson every day in practice. At Lake Nona HS those young men recieved some of the best technical training in Central Florida. The entire Dline in particular during the off seasons gets supplemental private coaching ( Coach Tank gets those boys right ). It's no accident one of the top 10 dlinemen in P4 for the 2025 season came from LNHS, Zane Durant's uncle coaches the dline at LNHS. Coach Ro got them boys ready.

Sound like we need to make a pipeline with the school and keep in contact with coach Ro and Tank for future prospects they look the part and well coached for sure.
