Deadman Walking Head Corch- Appeal For A Coordinator Hire?

I've seen some mentions about the difficulty in hiring new coordinators if the head corch is perceived as being on the hot seat.

Obviously your average coordinator doesn't want to move somewhere for a brief stint and possibly be stained with said head corch's stench of failure.

Do you guys think the opposite mindset can ever be at play- especially at a "name" program? What if said bum head corch gives the coordinator total autonomy over the offense or defense? If they're supremely confident in their own skill is there ever an appeal of "Hey, at worst I'm going to be the interim and possibly get a decent shot at getting this head coach job." Or "Hey, at worst my skill on one side of the ball at this name program will look even better if I'm perceived to have been limited by the head corch's ineptitude?"

I kinda thought the later might have been in play when I (wrongly) thought Orgeron was an absolute corch and guys like Aranda were still willing to work under him.

Just something I was pondering. Off to slam some Funny Navel flavored wine coolers. Have a blessed day.

You mean like Briles at FSU?

Look at a Joe Brady or David Yost. They might be willing to come here thinking it will boost their stock to bring our offense back from the dead. Likewise, it might give them a chance to move up the ladder ala Manny.

I just wonder if Aranda knew the entire LSU administartion was willing to do whatever it took for the football team to be successful. I don't know if we have that same mind set at the top.

First of all, I absolutely believe Diaz won't fire Enos. And IF he did, he'd F-up the hiring of another OC! After all, didn't he mention that he was going to have Miami play an offense like those Top 25 teams.

He definitely came to mind. Like if he wasn't an obvious fraud he'd probably be in decent shape right now to possibly get that job.
Risky move unless you’ve already got a great resume. If you’re a name OC wanting to be a HC why would you want to work for Manny? You’d be better off working for a better HC and program, or take a G5 HC job.

Aranda makes $2.5M. And, Orgeron hired an OC who can generate points so the pressure is off Aranda. LSU doesn’t have to win 10-7.

Voila! The powers that be don't give a F' if Miami becomes highly successful again. And the shame of it all, is the Sofer family put MILLIONS into the indoor facility! Again, as millions in this forum have alluded to previously, as long as those checks come in from the conference cofers and television deals, the athletic department will stay afloat.

Plenty of coordinators that would sell their soul for enough money. Bigger question is would the Canes pay a good one enough money

That's the problem. Our AD has reached his comfort level where the marginal rate of return for doing any better isn't worth the effort. He's thinking that better is the enemy of good enough. Problem is his definition of good enough and ours are two different things. We need an AD who shares the goal of staying a perennial challenge for the championship.

To put it simply, Miami's AD Lame's is mediocre and all that. Which is a volatile situation for those whom adore Hurricane sports and what not.

coaches don't live in bubbles and they pay attention to what's going on ...... the word is all over the college football world that the Mighty Panthers of FIU embarrassed Diaz and Miami while being a 21 point dog.

Orgeron is not flying the LSU plane ..... their new AD Scott Woodward is the pilot

This guy gets it. Any talk of any supposed solutions that doesn't involve firing Blake James and burning down the athletic department and starting from scratch with Clemson/Baga as the blueprint is only putting a band-aid on a decapitated body.

**** blows goats, but he is far from our real problem. We sucked before he got here and we will suck long after he is gone if we continue to have as the CEO of a storied, multi-million dollar a year sports brand, an effeminate man-child barely qualified to run the caddy shack at the local muni course.

Ohhhh, agreed. I wasn't implying that this at all would be a solution for us. ****, a good offensive coordinator for us gets the program to just enough of an acceptable level (for the powers that be) that they'd NEVER fire Manny.

Not until we clean administrative house OR hire a coach that serves as de facto AD will we ever climb out of this hole. I personally had hoped we had lucked into the later with Rick but that was obviously not the case. To think Blake will ever get another guy with remotely similar cache to have the name power to take the reins from him is a pipedream too.

Only one way to find out who might take the risk. The issue is that this program could be perceived as toxic (for many reasons) and may deter some from taking that risk.

In my view, it'll take a ballsy dude to jump into this conundrum called the U.
