DE possible addition?

These rules are ridiculous and need to stop. Drafted players should not be able to return in football or basketball. College sports has completely jumped the shark.
drafted players can play in college in baseball right? what’s the difference?

No brainer, you take him.

He brings a talent that we could actually use more of. We have the pass rushers that are quick, twitchy with bend and that’s not his game. He’s a big olb that will eat space and stop the run. He’s kinda stiff with short arms but his physicality and willingness to stick his nose in the run game would be huge. It also allows the DC more flexibility especially with Blounts abiiity to play outside and then kick inside. Lastly this would make the Lowe situation sting less. I imagine LSU will be on him as well.

I don’t think replacing Lowe is unfair to current players. Expectation is we were going to have another big bodied starter level DE who is now no longer on the team.

Also I feel GREAT about the roster but just say Blount goes down (god forbid). Do you feel comfortable at field DE? I wouldn’t. I think this program is at the place where you don’t want a single injury to hurt you that bad. We are expecting to play ~15 games - we are going to have injuries and we saw last year how small the margins are in the playoffs.

These guys are paid professionals now

Who gives a **** if it hurts their feelings?

(Not meant towards you just that sentiment)

Foe those who are accurately pointing out that playing a minimum 12 games season, and possibly 16-17 requires tremendous depth, I have one sincere question. How in the world do NFL teams play that many games with just 45 plus 8 or so on the practice squad? Even with signing guys off the street to fill during an emergency, NFL rosters are nowhere close to the size of CFB rosters.

I ask sincerely. I’m much more of a basketball guy and CFB and NBA rosters are almost identical in size. Why do college football teams need so many more players than their professional counterparts to play a similar (usually fewer) number of games?

This has nothing to do with Pyburn or anyone on the list we’ve been discussing. It is just a general question.

Why is this guy.not staying in the NFL tho, really strange
He only had 3 sacks in 4 seasons, so it’s not that surprising. I wouldn’t hate the idea of adding someone, but I would be surprised if he came just to log garbage time snaps

Its pretty wild you can play snaps at pro level then go back to college level. But that's what I'm thinking also like how good is he like a rotational college guy

I have question for my law guys.. when senate reconvenes in September could they effectively overturn any of these TROs by passing some version of the protect college sports act?
These are decisions by courts, so they can only be overturned on appeal to a higher court. I’m sure the NCAA is appealing many of the rulings but the appeals process can take longer than the length of a college football season. So the likelihood that a case will be appealed and overturned before the end of the 2026 season is very, very small to basically non existent.
