DE Asharri Charles midseason HL

A Miami ratings bump? **** truly has frozen over.
It will happen or the ratings sites will get further off the marks. They can’t keep bumping bama with saban gone and them under performing. Same with Clemson. Michigan is another that could take a hit. Just need to know the sites value coaching evaluations and development. They suck at doing their own. Just look at how they pick commitments… based on visits. They rank on offers and picking a school that has shown can develop that position. Now they also downgrade a little for top kids for clicks on uncommitted kids so they drive traffic. It’s a business that is all about eyeballs…not the truth

I agree, the post was tongue in cheek. Mario already brings credibility from Bama and Oregon, and they see him as a Saban disciple. So I wouldn't be surprised if we start getting some bumps now. Assuming we aren't just a flash in the pan and actually do something this season, both at the team and top player level.

When does he get a bump for our edge evaluation and development of Bain/mesidor?

These ratings sites can’t keep downgrading our commitments when we clearly have done well with evaluating and developing.
Ivins said this after our commitment yesterday, so I think we see a bump for him and the other guys before the cycle ends.

“Sainteus is likely going to need a few years before he's ready to go, but if you look around the Sunshine State, he's one of the seniors with the arrow pointing up. That's also the case with some of UM's other defensive commits like Asharri Charles, Jordan Campbell and Justin Edwards."

I think this will really start to happen once our players are drafted. I really think the high school ratings are mostly meant to be a projection forward. So if Bain is drafted in the 1st round, someone “screwed up” by not ranking him a 5 star. Which in turn means Mario saw something the ratings people did not. Which in turn means the next D-end Mario recruits may get a bump up so that the ratings people don’t “***** up” again.

Whereas Cici being drafted in the 1st round was supposed to happen based on his high school ranking. None of this makes a lot of sense to me and makes the ratings seem like BS. But that is mostly what I think they are because the ratings people have more faith in who a successful coach recruits than their eyes.

We have people just like that on CIS who trust the ratings more than their own eyes because the assume they aren’t seeing something that the so-called experts see.

I don't know what McConathy's future holds. I do know he was uber productive, leading the State of Alabama in sacks his Senior year against real competition. I have hope he will be a big part of the 2 deep.
I was under the impression he would be back at some point this year. How serious is his injury? Will he play at all this year?

That type of production is really hard to ignore. He was also the first of the 2024 group to be rotated in. I always saw him as a high floor kid because of his motor.

Bryant doesn’t have the skill and instincts to play LB.
Likely a bust because unless Taylor has magic powers to add more speed/bend. Pickett and Lightfoot are already better at the Edge/jack. If they keep adding weight, he will move from 2 to 3 string. Lucky for him we don’t appear to have a new jack recruit for 2026

Dnt write him off though. When he gets back next year he’ll be noticeably bigger with that same motor and maybe picked up some technique
Yeah I get it, technique and size can be taught, its that first step that worries me.

I think he'd be a SDE on 1st or 2nd in his RS Soph Jr year, but with the horses behind him and continuing to come, hard to see him making waves.

Sometimes we need these type of guys on STs, which is a real thing. If he likes violence and motor, he'd be great on KO, KOR, P and PR. Especially with that size.
