In the podcast, D$ Said (or I interpreted) that Shoop left Michigan mid season under confidential reasons. Speculation was not an onfield coach possibly due to Health reason. So I guess nobody publicly really knows.

It’s not that simple. If he hires an LB coach then next season there won’t be a spot for a dedicated DC unless of the other coaches leaves.

Too bad Jim Levitt just took a job with SMU. Levitt can coach all aspects of defense, but he might be too much of an alpha for Manny.

CIS likes Williams as LB coach and recruiter, and Shoop as an analyst. T-Rob can be co-defensive coordinator and Manny can call plays.

That works. Definitely a huge upgrade over last season

A collective staff effort.

We have coaches on both sides that have been a HC.

Garin Justice and Fields both have been HC on the offense side.

Simpson has been a HC on the defense side.

Schoop has been HC on the analyst side.

Multiple other guys have been coordinators in Likens, Trob.

This staff is loaded with experience right now. Lashlee will be a HC very soon and he will be handling offense.

The point is, Manny won't have to do everything himself now bc he isn't surrounded by amateurs only now.

Stubblefield, Stroud, Banda, Rumph and Barry never had close to the experience MOST of our staff has now.

Stroud already stated in an interview that he will help manny with all the admin side of being a HC.

1. If we give him an on field gig, his current contract with Michigan is voided.
2. We only have one on field gig left and manny wants to use it for a linebacker coach (shoop is also an awful recruiter).
3. Shoop was working remotely while at Michigan (possibly due to health reasons) so maybe he is not physically ready to become a DC
4. Being an analyst will help Manny with play call more than you think.

Yep. Manny likely sees shoop helping him with game planning (along with simpson and t rob). Suspect he wants a recruiter / lb coach.

Shoop could be dc but doesn’t help as much, because can do 90% of the same thing as analyst, we save money, we get another recruiter and a good lb coach.
