Daylen Russell is not hurt but your feelings might be

Good because we need another playable DT. However, I did see a play or two where his man won the point of attack and drove Russell off the LOS
Yeah I’m sure there’s a lot of bad and a lot to work on. People said he was a waste of a scholly pretty vehemently and universally so some light trolling on my part

I think the kid has a role here; the added weight has helped. If he provides a few reps a game moving forward and not be a hindrance, then he's on track considering he's in his second year (first year of play).

How does he look in practice? That’s a better gauge than bethune
Yeah I’ve actually been told by a few people that see practice they’re excited about him

But that’s also grain of salt because of course they are right? Especially with how people were bashing the commitment

He’ll be a good depth piece next season and possibly could blossom in his senior year.

Regarding the DT, they probably will need to hit the portal for next season. Lose Blay, could lose Moten, lose Bain and Mesidor.
Hopefully Jones is a guy that will step up. He’s injured so feels like a Samson type trajectory there

I'll raise my hand and admit I never saw it in this kid. G5 to me. If he is able to become quality depth, much less a playoff starter, my hats off to Mario and JT for recruiting him, and to Lewis and the S&C staff for developing him. And of course to Russell himself for putting in the work. Jury still out though.

I posted that he would never play DE. He played standing up a ton in HS. He didn’t have the speed, bend, or length to play DE at the next level. Glad he realized he needed to move inside. He needs to keep moving his floor higher.

Simpson could be our 4th DT ahead of Blount who is 260ish. Russell isn’t a bad depth player but I don’t see a future starter.
