Dawson

And he seems to like Columbia, which baffles me. I mean sure, it is nice to visit, but once you have been there more than 3 months, you have done literally everything there is to do. ****, it might only take 2 months.
Couple years ago this board was making comments about getting Dylan Stewart because Beamer would be fired. Seeing it up close when they beat Tennessee and Clemson back to back you’d think they’d won the championship. I’m sure every fanbase has their full retards but this is an incredibly casual fanbase

Need to keep Dawson so we can hire him, immediately after hiring Korn Ferry to do a national search, after Mario is named the HC of the Dolphins.

It'll come eventually. Dawson's proved himself and if this season keeps going like its going, I could see him moving on to take a P4 job.

I agree with this 100%. Unless it’s the perfect job, I think he’s our OC again next year.
i dunno.. if he gets ANY P4 head coaching opportunity, I think he has to take it.. has to strike while the iron is hot..

I guess if he feels extremely confident in his QB for next year, then I could see him taking another year and proving he can develop a QB (whether that's Nickel or Emory or whoever)... but getting back to back developed QBs like Cam Ward and Carson Beck isn't really sustainable...

Yeah, but not everyone actually wants to be a head coach. Some people are perfectly happy being what they know they’re good at and that for Dawson is an OC. Course will find out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s our OC again next year unless the perfect opportunity came knocking, of course.

I like Dawson, a lot. If you look at the offense he's structured for Ward vs. Beck (thus far), he's shown to be very adaptive and QB friendly. If at the end of the season, his resume shows he got the best versions of Cam Ward and Carson Beck, he will get additional opportunities, including HC.

Middle of the road programs are paying $3 to 4 million for a HC, so it will be hard to say no, especially if his downside is coming back to be an upper tier P4 OC for $1.5 million+.

He's doing a great job here, but so would other people given the resources and talent we're bringing in every year. His career progressing as it has is an even stronger selling point. People would be beating down the doors to be the playcaller at UM again.

Not a problem I mind having, at all.

We just need to make sure Mario gets the right guy if he leaves.

His track record isn't great.

Always a consideration. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that yet. I'd like to see Dawson work with some of the young QBs we've brought/are bringing in, but yes.

I think the game has changed for highly sought after assistants at places with really good resources. Smart and Lanning were able to parlay their first HC jobs at dream destination schools. With the athletes we bring in and our potential for playoff runs he could do the same.

The expectations to win are high wherever you go so the move might as well be worth it. Even at lower tiers now you don’t win in year 3 or so you’re gone.

Wonder who his exit schools are? Houston, Southern Miss, WVU?

Va Tech has a serious money issue facing them with this new hire.

Shane Beamer makes 2x the salary that Pry made. any new hire is going to want guarantee of NIL funds that far surpass what they currently allocate, even with Rev sharing. Supposedly they want a candidate with experience as a HC and with NIL experience.

Apparently the UCLA coach only made as much as some OCs across the country. That's an even worse situation....

Only cause chip left them in the lurch. They just promoted deshaun Foster with no experience. He wasn't a real HC. Legacy and gave him a shot. Lasted 15 games. They weren't serious

I could easily see him going to a program like OK state after Gundy gets canned. He should have no problem getting a P4 job for 4 million. Honestly I’d be a bit ****ed if he left us for less than that.

I’ve never seen any evidence of this. They’re very much a “happy to be here” fanbase that still talks about Steve Spurrier

Maybe I’m just thinking of my boy who is a USC fan who claims they are winning the Natty every year.
