If I was a top coordinator in this day/age of CFB, I'd just keep the $1-2mil/year and concentrate on your play calling... Let the position coaches handle the recruiting. Not worth the stress/pressure 24/7 365 recruiting of your own team, HS kids and Portal kids... unless it's a straight financial short term move of collecting a $4-7mil/year for at least 3years, and then go back to the more laid back coordinator spot...

Dawson’s HS QB evaluation and recruiting has yet to produce a competent quarterback.

In last year‘s bowl game,Dawson looked great when we had Cam Ward at quarterback then to proceed to looked like a total disaster when Emory Williams came in the second half.

The offense looked worse with a much worse QB?

Exactly making choices on coaches is not easy, rather pay to keep Dawson than end up with another Gattis choice
