Dawson is ultimately Cheeks.

TENDENCIES..... Have to change it up.....
No wonder they seemed to "know" what was coming.

Meh. We had that play blocked well. Toney had a chance for an explosive had he just kept going off #52's backside instead of cutting it back.

Not sure why we ran even less power than we usually do against IU though. Pretty sure the only time we ran power was on Brown's 4th & 1 conversion. Everything else was duo or wide zone.

Agree 100%, but the dude is not changing at his age.

The trouble with Dawson, this wasn’t just a playoff issue, it was an all-season issue. Too many times the offense was just stagnant.

He has zero awareness
Whatever he gameplans going into the game, hardly ever works
He is slow to realize what isn’t working
He is slow to realize what is working
All the brilliant plays he does pull out his back side are never used until desperation kicks in or up by 2 scores.
All the brilliant plays he does pull out his back side are virtually never used again
He is slow to adjust his own tendencies
He practically never adjusts plays to fool defenses with his tendencies
Trick plays at the wrong times

When he does finally get it together, he is decent, but he can go three quarters before he realizes. You can beat Pitt but, in the playoffs, he is in over his head.

Mario should hire an assistant for him.

To be honest, I think he needs to go upstairs and call plays from there... away from all the chaos on the sidelines at least for a season. He just can't seem to see the forest from the trees

People here are already mad at Hetherman for the defense he called in the first half when he was down a starting corner. We gave up just 10 points in that half to a team that scores a ton of points, and only would have given up 3 but for a couple of 3rd down penalties. Special place here.
Who of note is mad at Hetherman lmao

Canes194757392 doesn’t count.
Ok, won three games in the playoffs against Top 10 teams. Believe they all have scholarship players, NIL resources & well-paid coaches. Lost in championship game & put self in position to win it on final drive. Likely did enough offensively to win, but for a blocked punt/TD.
If feel the need to trash the guy, go ahead & have a good day.
I would feel the same way about Dawson even if we won. It’s called nuance. Wins and losses solely never paint the full picture but I forgot where I was for a second.

By your logic, let’s not change really anything. We got to the natty after all.

You’ll come around. Y’all always do, just 2 years after most posters see the issue.

We had 10 playoff drives we scrimmaged in + territory and got 0 total points too. Just extraordinary scoring inefficiency.

I like Dawson (I know you don't lol), but there was some very concerning stuff that happened in the playoff that gives me pause about whether he's the right guy to be our OC in future playoff games. There's also enough personnel issues - QB with certain limitations, subpar talent at outside WRs, and a mess at TE - that should be remedied next year (the first two at least), that I could see our offense looking more like the '24 one than this one and able to carry that performance through the playoff.

I honestly don't know where we go from here. If you told me we'd still get Mensah while having an open search that could result in the Hetherman of OCs I'd grudingly say make the move, but if we're just going to hire Ken Dorsey I would run it back with Dawson in '26.
I’m 100% with you on the personnel especially WR and TE. It’s criminal we had Bauman out there and we really need a true, elite outside threat at WR that gets separation against high level comp. It will make our passing game better obviously and Toney will thrive even more

Dawson is above average. His inability to adjust on the fly is his downfall.

You don't make it to the NC with a fireable OC. You also don't win with one who can't adjust early.

I'm not so sure . . . one can make the argument that we won a National Championship without a Head Coach in 2001.

Almost another in 2002.

Those were our teams running the show.

There is a ton of *****ing about the soft coverage in the first half, which is pretty dumb. Please don't torture me and make me use the CIS search function, lol.

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I thought he had a great plan in the first half. They had multiple WRs who are back shoulder monsters and we had 1 corner (OJ) who could defend it. They would have had 3 points at half had we not gotten the DPI when, ironically, OJ was pressed up on Suratt like everyone was *****ing wasn't happening and they went backshoulder. The soft coverage in the red zone later in the TD drive on the overturned TD was obviously on Jakobe who was supposed to be bracketing Suratt in the flat. Half the team yelled at him after the play and Toure and Moten had to be held back from going after him.

It's a drag, but Dawson didn't lose the game.

Davis doinked a kick,

Bauman whiffed and let a punt get blocked.

Facemask extends a drive.

Beck throws game-ending pick; Marion says he screwed up not being ready.

Indiana plays near-perfect football; Miami needs near perfect ball.

Canes win 24-20 if those handful of plays go the other way.

Them's the breaks.
All this too but Dawson is consistently inconsistent. He does some really good things and some really meh to blah things

If Dawson had JS at WR we win the natty easily this year.

If had had Cam throwing to JS we probably go undefeated not even exaggerating we probably easily waltz through the playoffs.

Offense is hard to coach against elite defenses when you have no deep threats and a great but not NFL caliber QB.

That said, take a bunch of the money we made and go get Mike McDaniel if Dawson moves on.

College football is the most emotional sport there is man...why do you think Miami has been so great historically and this past season? A lot of it is the channeling of emotion in a positive direction.
Yeah man. Thats the team. We’re on a message board. I’m not saying don’t be passionate. I’m saying like, also we were one play away lol

Only thing that really bothered me last night was his inability to really mix up our personnel packages. I would have ran 4 true receivers and forced them to sub their will for a true nickel and then ran the ball against the lighter box or get a matchup with a receiver on a the will.

You are under the assumption they would have done that. They were not
