Dawson is ultimately Cheeks.

Dawson get's selfish and its very clear when he does and he even tried to feature #87 on a series. WTF is this clown thinking? never been a huge fan of his and even last year with ward running the show and dawson even managed to ***** that up at times.

Dude doesn't stick with whats working, can't flow during any game and then tries to get cute. **** has always annoyed me and his roomate #87 can get tf out of here.

You are under the assumption they would have done that. They were not
If they kept the three linebackers then you try to exploit a matchup with the linebacker on Toney coming in motion for trips. And I get that they were in zone most of the night, but I trust JoJo or Moore to stress their zone vs Bauman

By staying in 11 all night; we made it so much easier on them

Dawson's not bad, he's just not good enough. We had nine days, and THAT is what he came up with in the first half! Second half was really good, I'll give him credit for that, but that was an extremely lazy, arrogant, and predictable game plan to start the game.

I’m not saying you’re wrong really. They just wouldn’t have changed personnel. That was their best group

It's a drag, but Dawson didn't lose the game.

Davis doinked a kick,

Bauman whiffed and let a punt get blocked.

Facemask extends a drive.

Beck throws game-ending pick; Marion says he screwed up not being ready.

Indiana plays near-perfect football; Miami needs near perfect ball.

Canes win 24-20 if those handful of plays go the other way.

Them's the breaks.
Have to disagree. By not setting the tone and wearing them out in the first half we let them get the lead and run the ball. If we were close in the first half, Mendoza has to throw and we were presuring him. If we got into halftime game down by even three, it’s a completely different ball game.

It’s not all Dawson, the RB coach putting in Brown in the 2nd/3series was pure idiocy. This was a small undersized line that we needed to strain. It occurred later but by then they could run the ball and protect Mendoza.

Dawson has to be arguably the most underappreciated OC in the country right now. Is he perfect? **** no, but this O is consistently good enough to win with. Outside of having a year where he had a dude that was **** near throwing games by himself(TVD), Miami has either had an ELITE, generational offense(Last year), or an above average O that complimented the elite defense perfectly(This year).

If you are going to fire Dawson, you better have a legit upgrade available and there's no indication that there are dozens of those guys running around. I'm curious as to what this O will look like with a more mobile QB, with receivers that can consistently win one on one matchups. I'm also curious as to what this O will look like with a decent TE. We saw what Dawson did when he had a good TE, it was far more explosive. Unless a Joe Brady type comes available(Which is unlikely), you aren't firing Dawson.

I want a list of every offensive coordinator with whom we would have won a national championship. I want the reasons why, broken down with links to film, their playbooks, and the nuts and bolts of how they actually call games.

This board's takes on Dawson are untethered to reality.

The root of all yalls complaints are you think too high of the QB and the talent and/or you don’t understand how hard it is to gameplan around those two things not being very good

Dawson is flawed but like i said in another thread he maxed out what we had at qb and wr. It will be hard to not be predictable if you don’t have talent that can make explosive plays consistently

If your WRs need you to consistently scheme them open and your qb isn’t the best processor how do u not be predictable?

We had to manufacture explosive plays with WR passes and flea flickers man lol..understand why a team would be doing that. Before this year did we see any gimmick trick plays from dawson??? Ask yourself why this year would we feel the need to add that

One person did not lose this game . We had a bunch of missed tackles , missed blocks , bad play calls by bad coordinators , missed fg’s,, and tbh Indiana made every play late and we didn’t.
Don't forget the penalties on big third downs

We had 10 playoff drives we scrimmaged in + territory and got 0 total points too. Just extraordinary scoring inefficiency.

I like Dawson (I know you don't lol), but there was some very concerning stuff that happened in the playoff that gives me pause about whether he's the right guy to be our OC in future playoff games. There's also enough personnel issues - QB with certain limitations, subpar talent at outside WRs, and a mess at TE - that should be remedied next year (the first two at least), that I could see our offense looking more like the '24 one than this one and able to carry that performance through the playoff.

I honestly don't know where we go from here. If you told me we'd still get Mensah while having an open search that could result in the Hetherman of OCs I'd grudingly say make the move, but if we're just going to hire Ken Dorsey I would run it back with Dawson in '26.
I’m with you.

The amount of points we left on the field this year, especially in the playoffs…it’s astonishing

I’ve been somewhat of a Dawson supporter, simply because I think he’s gotten too much **** at times

But I really don’t see how you bring him back

I think it became very glaring in the playoffs just how lacking we are at the skill spots but that only goes so far

He was a liability when the games mattered most

Dawson is an OC who needs to be in the booth... too distracted with sidelines chaos and has no feel for flow of the game. Just throws plays out there without any thinking...
He needs to be where he can see the big picture...

We literally drove the field to clinch three straight playoff games. And we were on our way again until Beck's colossal error.

No way! I guess I’ll have to rewatch the game again
You can be sarcastic about it, but the offense came through at least as much as the defense did in the playoffs. Maybe more so.

But narratives have a way of turning into facts on this board.

This right here is the main issue. We got “enough” in 10 out of 12 games. Averaged 8 points per first half in the first 3 playoff games. And had a goose egg for the second time on the biggest stage.

It’s hard to believe that won’t continue to be an inconsistent next season. Naturally our offense should be improved with Mensah at the helm but there were glaring issues/inconsistency with first half play calling all season long in the first halves of games and it finally bit us in the *** when it mattered most. Two goose eggs in 4 first halves can’t happen. You can’t take an entire half to adjust. Save the punt block-it was the biggest contributor to our loss.

Going by this, it looks like Ohio State, Indiana, Texas Tech, Oregon, Texas A&M, Alabama, Oklahoma all need to improve on offense as well.
