Dawson is fed up with the inside run talk

But 23rd to 88th is a **** of a drop. You cannot convince me this is not by design from the staff to protect the defense. I've been saying it for weeks and I'm fully convinced it's true. They believe they have a national championship worthy defense (and I agree with them), and they're going to do everything they can to lean into that unit, which includes slowing the offense down, running the ball more, maximizing time of possession so when the defense is on the field, you can have Bain and crew at 100% stamina to wreck ****.
It’s also a great recipe for losing games. It keeps inferior teams in the game the entire time.

That may work if you have a disciplined team. We are terrible with penalties so the little bit of air in the tires completely escapes with any offensive penalty. One bad penalty or busted play or turnover and you lose the game.

100.0%. It can work, à la Michigan and others. But you said it perfectly. It cannot work if you have 8 offensive penalties in a half, launch yourself like a torpedo at a punt rolling at the 15 yard line, field a kickoff on a dead run out of bounds, and drop a perfectly thrown pass allowing a DB to pick it off. All in one ******* half.

You can win that way if you’re a smart team. Or even an average team. Not if you’re the dumbest team in sports history. Well said.

Yeah, they ran a few more OZ, etc., but late in the game it was goal line formation from mid-field and their takeaway was that Brown didn’t run straight ahead hard enough. You can’t make this up.

Can we un-band that one guy?

I am not running back but I would look to run behind 61 first. I don't care what the call is. He is by far our best run blocker. Calling any short yardage runs anywhere other then behind CICi is malpractice
It’s hard to say by the pic if that opening was there before he cut left. He’s already into his cut so I don’t know if that space had opened up. That said everyone knows where we’re running and we insist on not just running there but bringing everyone in tight so there’s even more defenders there. Nothing is ever easy and Marty would have had to see that sliver and get through it. Also looks like 52 is getting pushed back into his space. Play was doomed from the start.

And you’re not running off tackle on a 4th and short.

Anything is better then trusting this center to do anything other then stand still or go backwards. Cooper is our second biggest body and supposed to excel at run blocking. Again I'm calling a running play to the right every time until it's stopped. I don't trust Samson, McCoy or Brock. But then again I would have play action passed here personally, but we know ever since arroyo walked in all alone against VT that play was thrown away because it worked to well and scored on one play. We have to physically beat everyone up including our own players so they get tired and commit dumb penalties.

If i was calling plays and decided after time out we are running on 4th and 1 I would have gone unbalanced and moved bell over next to Cici and just cratered that side. But again this coaching staff doesn't think outside the box for anything. It's just always the basics. Why run a flee flicker? Just because we ran it once and scored a TD? I mean scoring touchdowns is over rated I guess

Gotta get a beer to whoever it was that asked the questions that got Dawson mad. We stopped playing with one hand behind our back and the season took the turn we needed.
