Dawson get in here…

My only real gripe with Dawson is what he did coming out of the 2 min warning. It was inexcusable. I’m not really gonna blame that all on him though, I feel like that was the agreed plan between him, Mario, and Mirabal that almost cost them the game.
He also has to find ways to get other pass catchers more involved in the game. Obviously Mali is a beast and needs to eat, but when he’s getting bracketed we need to better exploit the opportunities that presents.

If you go back and look there was a lot of underneath players open. It seemed like Mensah was trying to press downfield more today rather than taking a lot of the underneath.

Last night's game really showed to me that Mensah really wants to be more of a Cam Ward type QB for us, but he's more of a Carson Beck type that's just immensely better than Carson Beck. That illegal forward pass was just mind-boggling. Dawson needs to tell him that if he can get some yards running, then get some yards running.

As someone who attended the game, the heavy rain did play a factor in the playcalling. Re-watch the game to see how better we looked when it letdown, and we started being aggressive with ball.

Nah hometeam…He’s trying to win a Heisman Trophy.

I’m surprised by the lack of targets barkate has got so far this year especially with the relationship with Mensah. We need to get more speed involved. It’s like this staff is allergic to speed on offense. Upshaw is a solid player but I would like to see Jacobs get more opportunities and use the guy speed to stretch the field more

Mensah was off. Seems to get lazy in his reads and not taking the easy stuff
Maybe trying for that heisman moment has gotten to his head or he feasted on lesser opponents
He also has an air of kaaya out there
Little diva-esque. Laughing after that horrible int in EZ is not how id like my qb reacting

Oh and he also is scated s less taking the easy 5, 7, 10 yard runs

Pass game was off for two reasons. Mensah trying to find the deep route almost every progression and the the pass pro being absolute dogsht last night.

I was getting on Dawson in the game chat, but after second thought our most explosive, on-schedule plays were through our run game. Hard to blame him. Mensah just wasn't seeing the field great and was way too off schedule

Now our DC? Thats a different story.

Our OL is gonna get Mensah killed. Dawson needs to run more plays that gets the ball out sooner and builds a rhythm.

Mind boggling how we controlled the clock for a full quarter more and well over 500 yards of offense in regulation to only put up 28 points against their bad defense. Didn't feel like a game played b/w the 20's but I guess it was somewhat.

We were just bad and inefficient on offense in + territory yet outside the red zone for a bunch of drives going back to the end of the first half last night. I thought it was more Mensah than Dawson. Even with the failed 4th down run in the red zone we still averaged 6pts/red zone trip.

The last possession of the 4th quarter was a head scratcher, though. The first down run was fine, but after that it was pretty clear FSU was going to sell out against the run and not let us run down to the 30-35 yard line for a FG like we were trying to do.

28 points in regulation against a team that gave up 44 to Louisville and 50 to Alabama.

Offense left a lot on the field… and could have put the game away much earlier.

Dawson ended the game on fire but the middle was way too soft.

You’re absolutely right Defense had to be saved… but the defensive backfield is beyond decimated so there’s a little bit of an explanation there.
I think a lot was on Mensah this game he just seemed off for large parts. Toney was open a lot but seems like he was trying to get it to other guys until crunch time and then kept feeding Mali.

From what I see looks like Mario says when he wants to run and Mirabal suggest the type of run to Dawson. Since Mario and Mirabal are about Bully Ball we see more inside plays. When Dawson makes the call we see more creativity like stretches and end arounds.
Can we please not do this again? The strongest conclusion you can make from what Dawson said in a single press conference years ago is that sometimes Mirabel is responsible for the play call on 3rd/4th and very short.

I didn’t like what happened every time it showed mirabal got in his ear. Every time he came up to Dawson, we immediately got into some macho power set and tried to impose our will, unsuccessfully.

Makes me think there might be some more cooks in the kitchen and Dawson doesn’t have complete freedom.

For all the guys calling for quick developing plays, did you forget how wet everything was last night? The hardest part about playing in the rain is inertia. It’s hard to get going, then hard to stop/change direction.
