We don't need to trick Indiana. Our OL will dominate them, but they are very disciplined and won't beat themselves. Dawson needs to call the game without the fanciness and if we do that and have long drives, we can absolutely win the natty.

Oregon got zero pressure on Mendoza. We will heat him up constantly.

Meat and potatoes with the occasional shot down the field. We do that, stay disciplined, watch the false starts and catch interceptions (should they become available) and I am confident we will win.

LET'S GO CANES!!!!!

I actually agree. Neither IU or OU's lines on either side stood out at all. That oregon generated some decent rushes in the first half....

Our sloppiness tho....

I still think that after what we've seen, we have a puncher's chance. We'll be locked in, especially after seeing this tonite

💯
I said it all week leading up to Ole Miss game
PLAY BRO BALL
It was a bro ball game
We could have run it every play and beat ole Miss by 10+
We ***ed around
Got cute
Threw 12-15 too many passes
Imo
We should have run for 250+

We can do that versus Indiana as well

We cannot get away from what is working! It was puzzling last night when we got away from the run when Ole Miss was not stopping the run.

Ole Miss' biggest weakness was their secondary. If anything, I thought we should have pushed the ball down the field more, then ground out the clock later on.

The only way they could cover was by holding the WR or hoping Beck missed

I think his point is, inside their 30 we’d abandon the run. Trying to throw with it more condensed made it difficult down there. I agree that we should kept hitting the digs and crossers but inside the redzone and just outside, we got too cute it felt at times. Doing that lead to the missed kick and INT. That’s possibly 14 points just left on the field.

That QB run on our first play with roughly a minute and a half before the half was the play that sticks out to me. In the game thread, I was dying as I've never seen so many WTF's, what was that etc.

The one thing that IU does better than anyone is they stick with their assignment when plays break down or last a long time. They don't get caught looking off their man so getting cute won't work often. You can fool anyone, but they're the least likely fooled in the nation.

The false starts were caused by OleMiss simulating the snap, they say Oregon is the best at doing this. But we have to prepare for it. No one has stopped our outside runs or runs into the C gap, they all go for 5+ yards or more, and then Dawson moves away from them. I believe that our Oline enjoys blocking in different ways, they don’t prefer the bro ball the entire game (that’s why it failed mid season) and get mentally exhausted by the monotony of it. Mixing in some flash plays every now and then keeps them focused and engaged. Stick to the run as said, but a well timed mix up keeps everyone excited.

I never thought of the potential psychological aspect of the game with regards to maybe this is why we seem to some really weird stuff at times. Is this just something you've thought to yourself or heard rumblings from somewhere?

I disagree. You just shouldn't use a critical 3rd down to get "tricky".

I have no problem using Toney as a weapon and running a flea flicker. But you have to feel the flow of the game. If we are just running it down their throat every play with success, then no we don't need to use Mali on 3rd down to run. I'd rather him on decoy motions. But like the flea flicker, when you're running well, that play can work. And if everyone is being honest nobody ******* knew that on a flea flicker being outside the box and getting it past LOS wasn't relevant for Grounding.... So like... Lets not purely judge the result of the play. A flea Flicker is basically just a predetermined play action deep shot. Not that crazy.

Dawson just needs to call some of those plays at better times. 90% of the game Dawson called good. Maybe even 95%. He's just has a couple plays where you go why then and there.

OL will dominate them? It’s gonna be that easy?

I wish i was as confident as you. This is a good team we are facing.

Dawson does it every game . I hope we get rid of him after the championship game regardless . He is a borderline retarded

Psychology is my field, and it’s the aspect I usually post from. It’s something I thought of myself. These kids are not like Mario, his brother and the old school Canes. Olinemen will dance these days, they also like to shine a little and they don’t enjoy grueling monotonous work that had become predictable by opponents and therefore, even harder to succeed at. Look how the Oline responded to Dawson going into the playbook and the way they’ve played since even Mauignoa scored his TD for example. Dawson has to sprinkle some fun to keep their attention and engagement. Posters have rightfully pointed out some very bad decisions and “cute” play calls at bad times, but the change that occurred with this team also involved the psyche of the olinemen and the position that playcalling put them in.

No other position group could have convinced Mario to change but the Oline.
