Dawson can't get cute if we want to win

We won't win this game if we average 3rd and 8 again like we did a couple days ago. That was some serious luck to be that good on 3rd and long. Won't be able to replicate it. Dawson needs to get his head out of his *** and find a way to be more efficient on first and second down.
 
Re-watched the #Canes-Ole Miss game. As good as Carson Beck was late, he really missed some throws early on. That seam shot to Malachi Toney was an especially bad miss(should've been a TD early on).

Yeah, we can question Dawson for certain calls, but he did dial up some plays that should've resulted in big yards or points. Sometimes it is about the players execution..
 
1st and 10
2nd and 7
3rd and 3
4th and 1

4 down territory mindset anytime we're in plus territory..even if we're just past our own 40.

I've said it all second half of the season.

Who's not giving up 7 yards to us if we run the ball 3 straight times?
 
One trickeration I wouldn’t mind to see used appropriately is Toney taking a deep shot from a screen. We throw it backwards for a reason.

This frustrated me so much. Ran it for about 12 yards with our OLine pushing for an extra 5 and the very next play we try the stupid ******* fleaflicker.

Our OL is very good but they struggled especially early against Ole Miss. Cooper and Bell both got beat a bunch of times it’s what likely lead to their false starts later on

Agreed, but if the players are executing in the run game and getting good results with simple concepts, we should stick to it, especially Vs. a team like Indiana.
 
This is an execution game, we have better athletes, couldn't agree more line up and take it to them

Dawson has us right wear we want to be so I'm riding with him no matter what he calls. You are absolutely correct. Beck missed a wide open perfectly called play that should have been a walk in TD. We had drops as well. Dawson is doing great. Teixk play here and there keeps them honest. Penalties will be the key in this game. Swallow the whistle and our chances go way up.
 
The passing game he called in the 4th can win the title. I feel like they finally let the thing loose. Beck was on and he was dealing. He didnt call some good shot players where Beck missed the target, to Toney and Marion. I just dont think any coach is gonna call all perfect plays. Its just the random wtf plays u need him to get rid of. We got it though.
 
Before looking at anything, make them stop the run. They play 13 players on defense, that's it. They literally don't play a 2 deep. Lean on them and wear them down. If we have a healthy DL, Mendoza is about to get hit and not have a good game. Take away the outside shoulder sideline pass to Surratt is a must. Need a injury update tomorrow.

We ran one Malicat play the other night. It didn’t work and we didn’t go back to it. Which I was totally fine with.

But, let’s not act like we don’t want to get the ball in Toney’s hand as much as we can. That play we ran the other night didn’t work because ole miss was ready for it and the defender just so happened to make a great play and tackle.

If Toney makes that guy miss, that play was going to be a big play. If Toney had gotten by that guy, he had lots of room to work with and as we have seen time and again. Toney doesn’t need much room to make something special happen.

I say if the opportunity presents itself, we definitely put the ball in Toney’s hands back there. It would be silly to 86 that type of play. We just can’t try and rely on it like we tried to do vs A&M. But we sure as **** can break it out if we catch IU slippin!!
 
Mali would’ve scored if our best in the nation OL didn’t let the defender split their double team.

Our OL is great. We wouldn’t be where we are without them.

I’m just not ready to dismiss the DL of the 15-0 1-seed and make it sound like it’s a foregone conclusion that we’re gonna steamroll right through them.

We can’t do that because IU doesn’t allow that to happen. They can’t beat us straight up much like Ole Miss

It’s why I felt good against OSU they just play bully ball up front. We can mug any team that does that

Ole Miss caused us issues by confusing us and making our OL make mistakes they don’t normally make. End of the day when they got worn down we mauled them but they were getting theirs against us early. Something I’ll be keeping an eye on early for sure
