I'll be honest, when the job opened up... I wanted Davis. Miami needs a Coach that matches the identity of the Program. Davis should be the coach. He **** sure wouldn't have taken losing to UVA, Duke, and BC on the ******* chin like choir boy.

Honestly Coach Richt is too soft for the University of Miami.

Always was.

I laughed when people thought his return was some sort of homecoming.

He was infused with decades of Seminole and SEC blood.

Remember his half time interview during the Peach Bowl debacle? He was asked who he was pulling for, his Alma mater or the SEC team, one of his biggest rivals at that? Yeah...

What's with this b.Davis chatter. No school in the power 5 want him.
Again no school in the power 5 want him.
Get out of the old way of thinking and get with new innovative coaches. Was Butch good yes, is he good now read above again.

Davis is the main reason Miami doesn't play OU in the 2000 title game. He refused to run the score up and Bowden had no issues doing it. For such a ruthless coach he sure had compassion for the other teams.

Butch lost plenty of games he had no business losing. I don’t know if he would have been better or worse or the same as Richt, but I remember countless wasted timeouts, penalties out of dead ball situations, etc. It is somewhere between revisionist history and selective memory that Butch was an incredible game day coach.

i agree that there were plenty of times i was giving up on um football but he was a first time coach. richts been at this for 18 years.
college football is won by loading up on the best talent. butch did that and can do that. richt was always a great recruiter but
seems to have checked out. i agree i never with some posters above, richt never really gave off a canes vibe.

If u can watch this and think Butch Davis should be the coach let me know. Then u just dont care abt facts. This is getting beat by a 3-5 conference USA team at home by 35 points. FAU ran for I think 4 or 5 hundred yards. Oh and Lane beat him 52-24 last year. Lane better than butch and richt better than butch facts!!

The Canes should hire Butch. It is a no lose proposition.

If Butch is successful, it means the Canes are successful and winning championships again.

If Butch craps the bed, it will be entertaining to see the reaction on here from the BBB crowd as to how long he gets to turn it around, why it happened, etc.

as much as people scream scheme, Lane just ran the ball right up their asssss, FAU's backs are very dynamic and break a lot of tackles, makes me question our backs,

It was a mistake not to hire butch last time, but he’s past his expiration date. The program needs someone totally new and different.

I agree that he was a first time coach, and that he did an amazing job of stacking talent both in coaches and players. But it is a very, very different landscape from when Butch was here in 2000. You are not getting guys like Sean Taylor or Ed Reed or Jeremy Shockey flying under the radar anymore.

Sorry OP, I usually agree with ya but Butch isn’t it either.

We need new young hungry blood running through this programs veins
