Oh, I recall his name being floated around. Like a dozen others. I remember rumors that Jj gave props to a handful of guys.

I don’t recall Patterson ever coming out publicly saying he wanted the job. And I don’t recall JJ limiting his support to Patterson.

Kids loved him (Yost) everywhere he's been (Watch Yost on YOUTUBE how he kicks it with them)..) Patterson gets leftovers from OU...UT...Baylor...OSTU...etc...and does what he does....

Patterson would have been amazing back then but how did you know he wanted to be here badly? I remember him vocalizing how much they loved Dallas Ft Worth for raising a family and thinking "well that leaves Miami off the list" lol

Of course what he says publicly versus in private is another story.

I do remember that they had an interview scheduled with Patterson but decided to hire Shannon a few days before that interview. It was reported in the Herald at the time.
It stuck with me because it just seem so incredibly lazy to not even bother to go throught the interview to hire a guy that you didnt need to rush at all to hire
