David Lake: Sooners made a run at Mario...

I am looking forward to a new commitment by the University towards the football program. IF, we get Mario, I am looking forward to supporting him and the program.
Just the fact that we are where we are, searching for a new AD & HC, has restored my faith in Frenk. If we do land an upgrade in both positions, I’m willing to accept the consequences and enjoy the ride. 20 years of frustration is enough for me to suffer, my time would be better spent enjoying the things I can from here on.

I have some questions about Mario (would be thrilled with the hire) but same time I don’t think there’s a coach outside of Urban/Saban that this place would be happy with

He’s a huge get and the combo of him and Rad as AD makes a huge statement there’s no question about that

This is where I like to talk to fans from other teams to be honest. Ones that know college ball but aren’t blinded by Miami fandom.
Absolutley there are questions about Mario. But there is no coach without questions, and the questions around Lane, I feel are bigger than those around Mario.

Mario aside, the fact that Miami has completely flipped the culture and is going all out to land a top AD and what they perceive as a top HC, both of whom are employed, is huge. It signifies that they are done being mediocre and want to win championships again.

Looks like you get it

Make a run at this.....

If it’s going to be Mario then I’ll get behind the University of Miami again. If he turns us down then if it’s Lane then the same. If the school is willing to seriously upgrade the AD and HC, it’s the least I can do. We’ll be so much better off than when we had Mandy twirling her hair on the sidelines or slip-n-sliding.

If Saban said he'd come here for free, the same people complaining now would complain that's he's too old and has lost his edge.
I don't want that bum, he barely beat Auburn.

I don't know call me crazy, but I would rather have a few coaches over Saban just because of his age....

He told them he wasn't interested in talking to Oklahoma. He was also mentioned for USC, LSU, and UF at one stage or another. Without campaigning for these jobs at all.

I don't think most of this board understands how the CFB industry, AD's and his peers perceive him, and how much of a grand slam it would be to land him. Actually, I know.

It's an absolute shame that some of you aren't able to enjoy Miami launching itself back into relevance in front of your eyes. You're missing it.
They have no clue. And he runs a good program at all angles

Going to be interesting to see who Oklahoma actually gets. Very well could end up being an underwhelming hire. Not necessarily a bad hire but an underwhelming one.
