2027 David Folorunsho 5* DT From Chicago, IL (St. Patrick HS)

so when do we start asking questions about the staff members leading these recruitments
The fact we are even in the room on these talents is far and away more impressive than the past 20+ years of previous staphs. Not long ago, we were sucking each other off about getting James Williams commitment. It's all perspective and you have none.

Im trying to relax. But im so tired of the doom n gloom mofos on this board. I dont know what Mario has to prove to these mofos.. do you
If you’re exhausted and have emotional angst because some people aren’t elated with DT recruiting, maybe you should take a step back?

Notice how I said nothing about the quality of talent. Stancil and Charles are going to be studs. I just said I'm a little nervous (again, emphasis on a little) about the overall numbers, mainly at DE. We gave taken 4 the last two classes combined (Lafayette, Charles, Lowe and Scroggins), so I would expect the staff to take a bigger DE class this year. Didn't think that was that crazy of a statement lol

Am I thinking too far ahead? Probably. Do I have any doubts in the staff? No

What do 5 stars at qb, wr and cb have to do with DT and DE recruiting? If you’re not capable of having an objective conversation about recruiting at a particular position then you can **** off.
I would love to see you tell me to **** off to my face. You would look like a ******* jack-o-lantern when we were done.

Now that I have that out of the way, if you want to drag DE recruiting into this, YOU are a moron. We have several five stars at DE. Back to DT.... There are typically TWO five star DTs each season. T.W.O. Some seasons may have 3 or 4; others have one. On average, there are two per year. THere are approximately 130 D1 colleges and about 25-30 "real" schools that could potentially sign those five star DTs. This means each year we are fighting all those other schools for those same two players. Expecting us to pull one or both five stars each season is not realistic in the slightest....and that's why I mentioned three 5 stars in the boat already. We have shown we can and do pull five stars.

Furthermore, it's May 15. Signing day is 6 and 1/2 months away. Last year we flipped Stancil. 2 years before it was Justin Scott. Watching (some) people on this board lose their minds over a couple of highly rated players (presumably) not choose us is embarrassing, especially in light of the three 5 stars we already have not to mention being national runner up after having been dormant for the last two decades.

Happy Halloween.

Yea it’s cult like but most people can’t accept criticism even when warranted
See this is what I dont understand, people mad at a fair take. Bunch of goofy **** on both sides. I am always calling things how I see them even if I believe in Mario, if there is a fair take that criticizes him then its fair. How could anyone get mad at that?

I’m confused on this one why people would be upset. It was over before it started, amazing we’re even a finalist honestly.

Now Matthews I’ll jump onboard with that criticism, kid is down the street and coaches have had years to cultivate that relationship. Kid from Chicago? Nah, even if we have pulled a handful from there recently.

I agree we’re not landing the elite of the elite interior d linemen since Scott like all of us wish we were.

But we have to give the staff credit that they are throwing numbers at the position with legit body types. If you can’t land the big dogs that’s what you have to do and we’re doing that. **** good chance another Moten esque talent rises because of the numbers we’re throwing at the position with most importantly the proper frames and traits

my criticism is not about this guy in particular but just a lack of elite level DT recruiting
ive pointed out mult times that it seems were just taking alot of bodies who fit a certain profile and hope 1-2 develop ala moten its a numbers game
that may work but that needs to be mixed in with the elite players like scott and thats a big missing piece

LOL keyboard tough guy. Probably a boomer.

Nobody is saying the CURRENT defensive line isn’t elite. It is. And that’s in large part due to the elite level of recruiting in the 2024 class with three 5 stars. The point is that the recruiting on the dline, especially DT, hasn’t been at that level over the last two cycles (and currently this cycle).

If we have the type of season we all expect this year, realistically two of Scott, Lightfoot and Blount are probably gone to the NFL. So project out to the 2027 and 2028 seasons and we’re missing those elite talents that we’re going to rely on this year. This isn’t a position that contributes year 1 so this year’s class is for 2+ years down the line. Again, if you don’t believe me, listen to DMoney on this morning’s pod. He and Pete made exactly this point.

It's not the questioning. It's blanket statements draped in hyperbole with the sky is falling followed by the fucc offs sent to those who push back. There's about 5 or 6 of you guys doing this on each recruit we don't get. It's the worn out "optics" comments. Or any other overplayed cliché. There's a big difference between "What a bummer we appear to be losing Matthews/Folo." vs. "Need to land elite top 50 type dt talent" or "Haven’t come close since Scott." The last two comments are direct quotes and are massive truth stretches. There are about 4-5 DTs in the top 50. Scott was only a few years ago. Then when you're greeted with push back, playing the victim becomes the move.

That's it. That's the entire rub.

There are maybe 3-5 elite DT each year and every major school wants them. It is a very tough position to get a whale let alone one every cycle.

The last few years there haven't even been 4-5. There has been 3-3-4
